You need to look at the complete system from the filter element to the supercharger inlet in order for there to be any meaningful data at all. I could manufacture a 1" long spacer that fit between the supercharger inlet and the stock inlet pipe. Compared to the stock inlet pipe, my spacer alone would undoubtedly flow much better on a flow bench than the stock inlet pipe alone. But that doesn't mean that the system would show any improvement at all (it should indeed flow worse).
From the looks of it, the AGS relocates the throttle body so that its butterfly is perpendicular to the flow going into the supercharger inlet. That's definitely a good thing. But, from the looks of the prototype, this causes a 90 degree bend upstream of the throttle, between the throttle and the air filter. Hence, my question as to the overall pressure drop for the intake system.
On the subject of heat shields, I'd love to see some data on that as well. What good is a "heat shield" if the vendor cannot demonstrate the resulting temperature change from adding that shield.
The moral of the story is this: Any intake that claims to offer an improvement in performance over stock, needs to show an increase in mass airflow. Since this isn't easily measured by the vehicle's own sensors (remember, no MAF here), it can be easily calculated by knowing the pressure and the temperature of the air under a repeatable set of circumstances.

yup, I've been taking glances at the ol Alta... sure does look nice under there with the red tube and all. Mine is a "Special Edition" one too. Special Edition because I replaced the Steel air box with a CF one I made, looks sweet aside from a couple of cracks in the resin.
Here's the latest...
The hold up is in the Filter manufacturing, and that's it, we will have the
first article out very very soon for test fit, so hang tight.....

website is updated
The excitement is getting near, or so it seems cuz their website has been updated to reveal a link for the air gain system that works. no pic or price, but what the yeck. They also have the rear grill link and a pulley link: all previously not available. Guess we get to see new products soon

Hi Sid...
And you think this is exciting.....just wait
I also solved a technical problem that was put on ice a year ago, first quarter
will be most exciting.....

Any news on this?? I just received my Alta CAI and am now considering selling it if this solution proves to be more efficient while remaining affordable. Don't know how long I can wait though... I can hear the Alta calling to me. Any educated guesses when this will be available for order?
Cheers,
Macman.

The last piece of the puzzle is the air filter itself. The company which is making those for us has promised a trial run by the end of this week. We fully intend on bringing some with us to Las Vegas for the Mini meet 3/3-3/6. We are doing our best to get our product out the door but it is tough when they also make the filters for a variety of companies. For example the latest delay was because they got a huge rush order from some other company which i can't name directly but there initials are K & N
Beleive me we want this as much as you do and are doing our very best to get them out to you.

My apology if this has been mentioned in the thread before, but...
Are we waiting for a foam or pleated cotton air filter element?
With fingers crossed for foam,

We looked at both types . After long discussions with our filter Mfg. we decided to go with cotton element. I must admit I was surprised by their findings as I have been running a foam element ( pipercross viper ) for over 2 years now . They were very persuasive in showing that the protection offered by the current foam filters available for the mini was not as good as what can be achieved with cotton. The offered to do a particle test to show the " numbers " and we might take them up on that when someone retires one of the other type for a AGS system. In any event we are going with cotton based on their expertise.
