Cam it or add meth injection?

Like the title says I am stuck with what to do for my next mod. I currently have 15%, intake, header, exhuast, 550cc, and tune. Eventually I want to have meth, cam and head done. I'm looking at the Aquamist HSF-3 so that I can tune for meth and have the failsafes verses just using a AEM that goes off of boost. For cam I am going to get the NS1 and the adjustable cam gear. Head with eventually be TPR-2.

What would you guys go with first? The cam or meth? Both would require a retune and would cost about the same (750 for meth kit and ~600 for cam and gear) I think meth would give me more power but will cost a bit more. Would it be best to hold off on the cam until I change out the head?

Meth now...you can run it no tune fine...do more research on the cam... Then do the cam/head at the same time and THEN retune.
Sure, the gains will be minimal pretune, but still noticeable.
Disclaimer...I don't have meth...but if you find daveO (MOSTLY on the other mini site) he will tell you all about it. IMO, your choice of meth systems is good!!

Pretty sure you won't be seeing Dave.0 on here again after his last temper tantrum. Zippys right though, go with the meth before adding more power.

I'm not 100% I'd tune for the meth. If you are tuned to run with meth, you can't run out, otherwise you'll be too lean and risk problems. Someone doing tunes might chime in and tell me that they do a safer tune for it, who knows. Personally I plan on running meth more as a safety, while not being tuned for it.

Thanks for the input guys

Zippy - You said do more research on the cam, why is that? I chose the NS1 because of it mid range power and because I like the thumpr head so I felt they would complement each other.

Da_Ghost - I chose the Aquamist system because it hooks up the the ECU and if it detects a problem (no meth, pump failure, etc) it go to a failsafe mode to not harm the engine.

Yes, Meth first, then Cam & Head, add the Meth, don't worry about tuning, the difference will be the same as driving on a hot day, compared to a cool crisp day. Then do the Cam and Head at the same time, tune it once....done.
As far as Cam choice, if your planning on using one of Thumpers Heads, ask him, your choice of which Head may decide things so you get the right combination for what your looking for.

Just know that with a head and cam there will be powerband and trade offs. Don't expect a linear powerband anymore, my buddy had a thumper head and cam setup and ended up with a flat spot from about 3-4k RPMs.

Looks like I'll be getting meth first. Thanks for the input

Blwnaway - I have already talked to Thumper about their head and cams and that is what he recommended, NS1, TPR-2, and cam gear.

bay - Yeah I understand it won't be linear anymore but any head cam combo is going to change the powerband

definitely go meth first especially since your in texas. your intake temps will drop atleaste 40deg and you don't need a tune for it. As for the cam, youll feel something, but just easier to do it when you get your BVH. excellent choice in head, that's what im sure ill end up doing, thumper is a good guy, talk to him on the phone he wont let ya down. im looking at that combo myself, just haven't had time to do a swap, I was thinking last summer, but had no time, now its winter and its my DD, so springtime =)

One more thought....
You do a header yet...
A good one like a RMW shorty, with the OEM cat welded to it works well (no codes, folks go over 250+ hp fine).....
I would hate to hear you try to run a bvh with a stock header....
Chatting with you head maker/tuner is important...much debate over the years based on cams...just sounded like a bvh with a mid range cam was an mismatch, but is the folks doing it says it runs well, then go for it!!

Salty - I've talked to thumpr over email but have not called him yet. Waiting to see what my tax return is and might do all 3 at once!

Zippy - I do have a header, I have the Megan Racing header and I am catless but pulled the secondary o2 out of the way so it isn't throwing a code. Talking to thumpr he said by using the ns1 with the cam gear he can adjust the cam timing to switch it more towards the high end and still get the midrange.

Methanol first if you live somewhere consistently hot. Don't tune for the meth, add the cam, tune for the cam.
