Performace Cam... Fuel Injectors

So I am going to get a performance cam, other than getting tune what injectors should I get? I've been told just to go with 450, but I plan on doing more. Should I get the 550, or just the 450?

950's!

jk. just for me

For big cam, go ahead and go with the bosch EV14 550's. much better spray pattern than the deka's. Make sure to get oe units and not re-drilled 550's

(main reasoning is cost is not that different for the extra protection of future proofing it... unless you go nuts like me and even 550's are not nearly enough... )

Go with the 550's, you'd have to do some Major modifications to over run them, and the amount of work needed to get either of them working properly is exactly the same, so why take the chance.
My mods would have been too much for the 450's a few steps ago.

If I recall right, there are two different 550's...
One of them has a better spray pattern....better atomization...it is a newer design. Check with you tuner Jan/RMW? ) ..they will have an opinion...but if I recall, the idle with the better 550s are fine and they are actually BETTER due to the spray pattern than the 450's....more "headroom" too if you keep modding!!

also if you have lighter mods, the 550's will support e85

which length? I actually had these in mind but they make three different lengths. 40mm, 48mm, and 60mm. Not sure which one is required or recommended. Going with the 650's.

I went with shorter ones and built my fuel rail, so I actually cannot remember. I think our factory ones are 45mm, but you should pull one and measure it with some calipers first.

Make sure you are getting bosch OE units and not aftermarket redrills / ebay crap.

If you are going aftermarket re-drills make sure they are top-shelf flow matched units by someone like FIC (fuel injector clinic) or ID (injector dynamics)

(i still prefer bosch OE over those though)

Jan will recommend that you buy his and only his 550's. Though, Jan is just another guy who simply resells OEM injectors from other cars, marketed as something special to those without the interest in researching.

Ebay some Bosch 0280158117. That's what Mynes sells. You'll need harness adapters.

Fixed it for you.

Say whaaaa?!

seriously though. I hardly buy any of my stuff from automotive markets. Only things like radiator fans and such. All my nuts, bolts, grommets, seals, etc etc are from industrial part suppliers.

Hell, McMaster is expensive (yet super convenient) by industrial standards, yet it is still half the cost of an automotive warehouse for the same crap (fittings and hose). AND I get CAD drawings and technical data on service use up front! amazing...

Business is business I suppose, but I think it's cheesy what these guys do with injectors. OEM take-offs with a fancy rebranding. Simply genius... :-/
