Drivetrain Burger Motorsports (BMS) Tune(s)
So, the 30 we had are gone. We marketed them as out of stock but left the order button up. We'll just process them in the order received. We have 20 or so coming in early next week.
I think you will notice the difference. The power is so smooth it is deceptive, but if you put the hammer down, it pulls really hard. I even noticed how much nicer it was going up hills and not wanting or needing to shift as much. I am at 37.5 mpg..... Until my wife, who thinks she is a race car driver, drove it for a day and lost .8 mpg! This is a great addition to the car, just need to sell the aftermarket intake now!

Some people feel they get higher peak boost readings with stock intake on the JB+, but I have not noticed a difference either way (running stock intake for the winter months now).
I got my JB+ today. Installed just as described on the web site waiting 15 minutes. No CEL and I can definitely feel the increased boost, but I think it's only supposed to be about 2.25 psi in the center position (min 1.75 - max 4.75). The unit is set at 50% right now and I'm not going to change it until I get a boost gauge and fill up with 93 octane. I still have 89 in the tank right now and this car gets such good gas mileage I can't run it out.
Just my luck. couldnt track my package till 2pm today .was getting a technical difficulty message on usps tracking for the past day and a half. so when i finally see my info today it says my packaged was attempted to be delivered today at 1227 and a notice was left . i woke up at 1230 and there was no notice . if there was i would have tracked that mailman down . now waiting till tomorrow for redelivery.
the stock one is known to be better because it provides more cold air than the majority of aftermarket open filter intakes. oem one even has cool air induction(sucking from 1 tube which leads outside the engine bay) whereas the open filter is just sucking surrounding engine bay air(and heat).

I'll do that Terry. About the install guide, I didn't see one for the N18 so I picked the next closest. I also didn't get one with the unit.
the 1.5 step install instructions has been posted ad nauseum in this thread alone, including the page you last posted on. and using 89 octane even on stock tune is a terrible idea. $0.10 a gallon difference on ~500 gallons a year to go 15k miles - you do the math. not worth it.

I know. I posted some basic directions here. But have not had time to put a guide on our site. It's on my to-do list though!
What mods do you have?
stock
You might get more low end torque/later spool with the stock intake, but a quicker spool/less low end torque with aftermarket. That is a gross simplification. Try it both ways maybe and let us know.
Mine came today, I Just got back from a 5 day Business trip to Fla. its installed but no testing or driving until tomm.
My comments on Under the hood only intakes that are not sealed against dirt and heat are:
Did some testing 25 yrs ago on this very subject for a lab that was doing this for GM. Results are pretty basic. The engine needs clean cool air , the open element filters that are not sealed may make great noises and those noise may translate into a feeling of more power, but its not. The filter get dirtier quicker. On a dyno we saw up to a 15% drop in HP and Trqe after only a simulated 5k miles of open element under the hood. We never saw an increase in power with the hood closed with an open element compared to a sealed filter with a outside air duct run to it when both filters had close to the same panel flow.
Your results may vary but for me a good high flow panel in the factory box is a good setup.

It'll then taper off in the mid range, very normally for these 2nd gen MINIs.
Not to be a **** but I would not be in the habit of putting the rods in such a high load situation, like a 3rd gear 2k rpm full throttle. With the car making considerable more torque my advise would be to wait for full throttle until after 2.5 - 3k rpm.
