I was looking through a junkyard of all places and came across a rather unusual CAI. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is. They want $80 for it and seeing as how I'm in the market for a CAI, I was wondering if thing is some magical junkyard find.
I've seen this CAI online somewhere else before, it's a "professionally" done piece, just not very good workmanship in the first place. I can't for the life of me remember who was selling it though...will update if I find it again
Homemade was what I suspected as well. I'm probably going with a brand name CAI eventually. I hear great things about the Alta but am just a bit hesitant on the noise. I don't want the increased noise to feel annoying on long car trips.
Unless DDM made some prototypes before the current model, I highly doubt it. It doesn't look one bit oem, more like someone cut a bucket and turned it into a CAI.

hes talking about what DDM's current CAI looks and sounds like

Lol I was referring to what other CAI beside the Alta he should consider
I think the real issue is the fact that you have no engine! Just kidding :-)
I have heard mixed reviews on Alta CAI's, so just look at all of your options before making a decision.
The Alta one isn't fully enclosed, so it's a bit more noisy and some people don't like that. The quality is what you would expect from Alta, it's simply a matter of what kind of sound you want from a CAI.
It was my first of several CAI's starting back in 02. I had their strut tower brace at one point as well and they supplied a neat little low profile ECU cover to make it fit.

BMP intake Moss Mini Bar
BMP brace , low profile ecu cover and Pipercross Viper CAI
forget the intake, grab that strut bar!
prolly worth way more!
As you can see frm the photo, making this bar work with your brand CAI could be tricky...not much clearance, so most folks used their brand CAI since modding was not necessary.
