You don't get that much increase in most of these systems. Remember most of these published HP gains are sales oriented stats from the people who designed or are selling the systems. The testing is far from standardized and the cars are not standardized so comparing HP gains is really comparing an apple grown in Washintom to a pineapple grown in Hawaii. Doesn't make sense. Not every car tested came off the line the same year, they probably all have different mods and tweeks, the ambient temp/elevation/humidity was not standardized and you know the dinos are all different. Point is HP ratings are very subjective. In addition it doesn't take into consideration the changes in the torque curve of the car which for me was much more improved than HP with my Dinan set up. Just a lot wider torque cure, more usable torque all acrosss the range. No more low end stumble and a bit less downshifting around town. (To be fair, I admit I also have all the other Dinan Signature Series Mods on the car)
A word about the Dinan set up. No it isn't a remake of any other system. It is enginerred from the ground up to work with the mods sold by Dinan. If you don't improve throttle body diameter, air intake volumne and temp and ECU you can't optimize performance from an exhaust change. So unless you are going to increase those parameters, exhaust, in my mind, is about getting the sound you like and maybe a nice pairs of tips! (Hummmmm)
Anyway I like the Dinan cause it does't pop, just a subtle deep burble when you get out of the throttle. No drone on the hiway at all. I can listen to valium rock or clasical cello on the stereo at high speeds without interference from the exhaust and when I get into the throttle hard it will drown out Metalica at high decibels. A nice combination of Deep tones on a background of banshee like screams.
Downside to Dinan: Rt tip collects more soot than left tip, = darker inside
Fix= Spray inside of left tip with flat black paint. Picky-picky-picky
Lots of good systems out there. Go to meets/functions, listen to different systems and if poss. drive/ride in some to get real feel. Don't buy for advertised HP ratings. Buy for the sound, fit, finish, looks and gut feeling. Remember most of your time is spent not looking at it but listening to/feeling it from your drivers seat. Just my $.02 enjoy

Anyway, I think that you'll find that if you set performance (power, weight or handling) goals, that when you're done you'll have a car that looks aggresive, sounds aggressive and turns aggresively.
with this 02 cents of mine, and the two from you, we only need $2.96 more for a cup of Starbucks!
Matt
FYI, my exhaust is (later this week), OBX header, Magnaflow high flow CAT, 2.5" tubing, and muffler TBD (maybe resonator too, if it's too loud for my wife). Cooper lower valence too. This will cost less than a SS Cat-Back system..... Including the header!

Ok I am curious, everyone is saying that the magnaflow exhaust is the best one in terms of sound, but I saw one this past weekend at a Thunderhill track day and it seemed like they only make them for the 02-03. What about a magnaflow for the 04-06? Did they not make one for this model? Also it seemed a lot quieter than I was expecting but maybe the guy jsut was not at full throttle. he he. Does anyone have any personal sound clips other than the original ones posted? Thanks and any help or info is appreciated.

OBX Catback exhaust
Got it installed, it will take a little to truely determine what I tink about it but here are my impressions so far.
Pros:
1) price 299.00
2) Assembly system is in 4 pieces allows for fine tuning.
3) Sound – deep and acceptable under 4,000 rpm
4) Tips look great sticking out the back .
5) Nice finish on the parts.
6) Mufflers tuck way up and are not visible.
Cons:
1) Not a true “catback” – you need the entire stock straight pipe.
2) Assembly system is in 4 pieces can be a pain in the *** to get everything lined up.
3). Sound – 5,000 rpm it gets louder and 6,000 to redline its dam loud.
4) Incomplete – 6” “connection piece” is 2.5” diameter and stock pipe is 2.25”.
5) Clamps are lowest quality.
I would have preferred less sound but sound and age seem to go hand in hand. My son who is 15 loved it but it’s more than I wanted. BUT normal driving its very pleasant actually and when you hoop on the throttle it transforms to race mode.
Installation
You need to do this at Midas mufflers who can produce the piece to connect your stock exhaust straight pipe to the system. The piece in the kit does NOT fit. The clamps are the cheapest and I opted to buy SS clamps.
The exhaust tips are connected by a small piece of metal welded to each tip. Mine broke within the first hour. The metal piece connecting the tips was small and inferior. I had it re-welded and add an extra piece of metal connecting the two tips welded on as well.
Overall, I can’t complain for 299.00 plus freight plus install. If I had to do it all over again, I would reconsider the budget (i.e. allocate more), I'm sure there are 500-600 dollar systems it beats and those that it does not.
I give it a C+. I gave the Header a B-.

I got the B and B exaust last week. pretty easy to put it on. i did have access to a lift and the help of 3 friends that knew what they were doing. Mine has the big single tip (boxter look). after the first test run i did have the tip to close to the bumper and it started to melt. i've pointed it a little down for now. in a week or so i'll move it up little by little making sure the plastic doesn't melt.
it isn't as loud as i had expected. i'm thankful for that.

Here is my Borla Race exhaust system. Gurgles nicely, has a deep sound and is not too loud at cruising speed.
Enjoy,

Above link is a video clip for the Mille Miglia catback exhaust.
It's an Australian company and for me it sounds very nice.
Kind of dark so cannot see well but just check out the sound.
I will try to take better picture and video clip soon.
