Local myself....I put 100+ miles a day on the car. I'm almost certain I'd run the piggyback through it's paces lol

look at the large analog speedo - that needle shows the A/F ratio (which i don't know how to read) as opposed to the speed of the car, unless Terry's driving north of 150mph.

Terry, can you also hijack the factory JCW gauges? I have the H2O temp and relative torque gauges installed on my 12 S and that would blow my mind.

Probably. One step in the process will be to determine what dash types exist and what changes there are between them. If anyone knows (or has photos of the various types) it would be appreciated!

Pumped in some ethanol to test out an E30 fuel mix. Fun stuff. Unfortunately a local sheriff didn't think so. Ticketed for 79 in a 50 zone. Time to hardwire a V1.

did you need to change some of the fuel lines to run ethanol?

looks great Terry! I love how you guys tap into the can system for functional purposes.... my money is certainly ready to be sent. One question, looking at your install video, how does this setup adjust fueling if it's mainly altering MAP harnesses? I'm just trying to think how the ECU will know to spray more fuel when this device is mainly fiddling with what seems like boost target(and therefore wastegate duty cycle compensation)

The key to making it all work is with the MAF control and the nature of the closed loop fueling system this motor runs. Of course with the Stage1 there are certain constraints we are working between but I'm confident we'll have a safe and reliable 20-30rw bump with it. For Stage2 where we plan to add E85 support, etc, then of course additional sensors, CAN access, etc, will need to be brought in to the mix to accommodate the additional gains.

Testing it on a 100% stock system. Need to get up to speed on the platform. Does anyone run E85 on their R56 currently? It not, why not?

I dont think many do, since on other tuners offer an option. As far as I am aware.

It will be great to see what a ton of timing will give in the power department in this motor without mbt. Terry, do u have comp fuel table tables that lay over standard tables to adjust for e85, so the user can adjust simply for a 30, 50 or 100% E85? FYI for those of u that are going to run e85 in cars with higher mileage, run a lower mix like 30% for a while, the alcohol in e85 cleans all the gunk out of the high pressure plunger in the pump.

MINI also says not to tune your car, so why do we even have this thread?

BMW's absolutely love E85 mixtures. We'll see how the MINI takes it. More for R&D than anything else at this point.

All cars since the late 90's are built to handle the natural tendency of alcohol to dry out and break down material. The REASON they do not want higher levels of e85 to be run is the ecu's inability to compensate higher fuel loads greater than 15%. E85 has a lower density, thus it takes more fuel to burn at the same rate as gas. A good programmer will compensate fuel tables to run levels of e85. Chrysler and Chevrolet have built in sensors that detect the current level if e85 and adjust the ecu on the fly.

Hi Terry,

I had my N18 engine tuned but I would definitely want to try this if there will be no negative effect on the ECU if I use your option to override my current tune. Do you think it will be an issue?

Here's a link to motoringfile. The picture appears to have relative torque on the left and G meter on the right. At the end of the article is an install PDF. The PDF says no coding is required, so does that mean the gauges are totally passive? Would that disallow them being hijacked?

I am in the same boat and asked the same question. I believe he suggested going stock before using.

The short answer is I don't yet know.

With Stage1, I'd assume it won't work, or at least will be too much trouble to figure out. I don't expect Stage1 to be much better than any other N18 tune out there. Just similar performance in an easy to install/remove at home format. On Stage2, that will be another story all together.

But either way I'll do the CAN Tool programming so it can be used with our tune or any other tune for in dash boost display, AFR, knock, shift light, downpipe light delete, etc. Finally got control of the fuel LEDs tonight. I'll throw together a little demo video when I get a couple more bugs worked out.
