Yeah but for $500 tune plus $200 dyno, not bad for $700 IMO. He's getting paid right lol.

Not from what I heard but give Detroit Tuned a call. TJ will be able to tell you since Jan did a few N18s down there at the dragon.

Because pre Feb 2012 and 2011 N18's still need to be bench tuned. They can't be done via OBD.

Got it...so that seems like a way long process to try on a tuning day. I mean how many could you really do thoroughly

Yeah but if I'm paying $200 dyno time, it's unlimited until he finishes lol:-). It's just the N18. Chad told me for the N14, it doesn't take as long at all.

So we'd get as many dyno runs as we want...until we're happy with the results we're getting with the tune? I thought it was gonna be more like everyone has an appointment time.

One at 8, next at 9...so on and so on until all 10 were done around 7PM (if you take time off for lunch).

But one car could go from 8 to 12 and then the rest get bumped back?

Basically that's somewhat correct. I'd probably be last since mine takes longer to tune(I wouldn't mind being last). Then everyone else that doesn't have the N18 could get their cars done first. It won't take more than possibly 7 runs for the R53 and N14s.

Dyno time is typically based on how long it takes to tune your car, so in a way it basically is giving you more than 3 runs. You can call Detroit Tuned for them to explain it more if you'd like.

and this is a RennTech tune that you would have to send away for but they are coming to Detroit Tuned this summer. Any idea when?

No this is RMW tune. Jan will be doing them. And it'll be sometime in late August, beginning of September.

Call Detroit Tuned within two weeks to get an exact date. By that time Chad and Jan will be able to compromise on a day or two depending on how many people we have to get it done.

Oh trust me my signature is outdated haha. But this is my last resort. I don't really feel comfortable sending my ECU in. So RMW is my last hope for a dyno tune. So far four people are interested. Possibly five with a buddy of mine who has a R53. Let me know if your down so I can take a count. Thanks!

I would if he would do the 2/12+ N18's. I absolutely loved my R53 tune from him.

I remember the first time he tuned my old R53, he was taking about 4 to 5 runs for most cars (mine was actually 7 due to one tire with lower tire pressure we didn't catch right away). 2 Years later when he retuned it, 2 runs and he was done. Same will happen with the N18's as he becomes more and more familiar with the R60.

I wish I knew some general range of dyno numbers that Jan was getting out of the N18's... It's hard for me to commit to a tuning party 5 hours from my house and not know what I should be expecting when I'm done.

I only say this because I'm contemplating a turbo upgrade in the next year about. If I knew what I could get from Jan out of my stock turbo, I could make a decision of whether or not to nix the turbo idea and just spend the 700 and go to Detroit. But if I'm still gonna go the upgraded turbo route, I need to save the 700 towards that piece of kit.

Call Detroit Tuned, both TJ and Chad can tell you since they've seen a few N18s get tuned down there! Check it out man.

Yeah but I don't have charts but at least if you email Jan or call Detroit Tuned they can tell you exactly. And from most people, the RMW tune is very accurate unlike some I won't mention, Jags or a RaceChip hahaha.

Careful with that out loud voice

Best part may be if we get N18 graphs & numbers from your summer tune party.

When it comes down to it, throwing out a number like plus 30hp or something is great for braggin' rights.

But seeing that curve and if it's a usable peak is what counts...getting max hp at 5900RPM+ is something most of us are unlikely to actually 'use'

Well right now we have four people committed. But five interested. We need at least five more to make it happen. We'll find out by the end of this month!

I plan to have all the before and after dyno sheets.
