Drivetrain Twincharged MCS

. When did they came up with a BB solution for the turbo?

But this kit sounds great! At a hair under 50k miles though, I think I'll keep my MINI as is....but for my next MCS in 18 months or so, this might be EXACTLY what I'm looking for!
I'm assuming that this it the same kit I've heard Helix talking about????
OK so where can we get more info about this conversion then, as it looks as though it is coming to market soon? We're still waiting for more info (video etc) over here in Europe. I am extremely interested to see the final results of this conversion ie what you get, how much it costs, performance figures etc etc.

I have just under 50k miles on my S and already have 19%, exhaust and intake so I figure I'll just wait another 1 1/2 or so for my next S to put this turbo in. And I'll do it shortly after break-in.
SPI will be showing their new twincharge turbo/super charged conversion at the SEMA show in Las vegas on Nov 2. 2004. Sema is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world.
Get ready this will be the biggest modification to the Mini S that I have ever seen.
And this is done without a pulley change!

The only thing that was changed when I was in the car was the turbo, fuel management, and exhaust...thats when the dyno originally spat out 250HP at the wheels. I have no idea what it is running at now. Everyone has to remember that this car has no other modifications...just a stock MCS and a turbo to make it fast...

Mlebeau: congrats on the NEW S. I'm sure it is hard to wait.
It has taken some small baby steps at the start of performance mods.
Now we are reaching the zenith, if SPI gets this packaged correctly.
A made in the U.S. super fast street garage mod.
Thanks, USAMINICOOPER. I agree about the mod scene, I have noticed that the scene has not seemed quite as... developed as the scene from my old car (Audi A4). I'm glad to see there is a market for more serious mods, though, and that they are on their way.

so do we have any times or even any expected claim times on this thing yet!!!! will it get in the low 5 sec 0-60 or even 4 0-60 times, i want to shut up the srt croud aroud here their everywhere and bullying us around!!!!
The twincharger system looks very intriguing, espcially since those dyno numbers were from an otherwise bone-stock (like mine!) MCS. I've been considering several upgrades to my car, including a pulley and a cat-back exhaust, but the anticipated release of this system might put all of that on hold. I have a few questions regarding the compatibility of the twincharger system with the stock components, and with some popular modifications:
1) Does the fitment of this kit require modification of the exhaust rearward of the cat? Since I have to drop my exhaust to fit a short shift kit, it seems like a good time to think about upgrading the exhaust while I'm under the car. However, I'd be reluctant to hack up a beautiful stainless cat-back system to accomodate mating it to a non-OEM style (either by joint location or mating interface type- flange vs. slip-joint, etc.) downpipe.
2) Is the addition of the turbo compatible with a reduced-size supercharger pulley? I was leaning toward a 17% or perhaps even a 19% pulley, but it looks like there's no need to spin the supercharger any faster than stock once the turbo is added. If I had the financial wherewithall to get the twincharger kit right away, this would be a non-issue, I'd leave the stock pulley and wait for the kit's release. But, I'm not that patient. I want the car to be quicker and more responsive now, but I don't want to do a pulley upgrade that I might, sometime in the next year, have revert back to stock size in order to allow installation of the twincharger while maintaining a margin of safety for the engine. I'm hoping that 15% will still be OK for use with the twincharger.
3) How well will the stock transaxle hold up when subjected to the torque this package produces? I don't know what the max torque rating of the Getrag 6-speed is, but I'd be surprised if it's anywhere near the 250 or so ft-lbs. that the dyno chart indicates is produced by the twincharged engine! I also wonder about how well the stock clutch hub and CV joints will take that much torque over time. Oh well- this much power demands an LSD to get it to the road. After ponying up for the twincharger, heavy duty motor mount bushings, and LSD, whats a few hundred dollars more for a low-mass flywheel and uprated clutch parts while the gearbox is out of the car?
Now, with all this go, gotta budget for better stop, too... good thing my wife has already been lobbying for a brake upgrade since she ran the Dragon!
Oh, yeah- one more thing: will this affect my warranty?

I have another question...
Will a twincharged MINI blaze like this???

I had to find somewhere to put this link, it's just so damn cool!
