Drivetrain The Official ALTA AccessPORT Thread
You mean to tell me that if I remove my neighbor's cat from the downpipe I can then run a Stage III tune? This has been bugging the sch!t me for months! She knocked on my door about 2 months ago and asked me if I'd seen her cat lately. Of course I responded no. But, now that I think about it, my exhaust *did* seem to have a _funny_ smell to it - Eau De Little Friskies is the best I can think of....
I have a question regardfing the 2012 JCW. Forgive me if it has already been asked. Will the Access Port be compatible with the 2012 JCW engine? I am planning to buy a 2012 JCW Roadster in the spring and I am trying to determine if my existing [unmarried from my totaled R56] AP will work or if I should just sell it.
Thanks
Thanks
We're not sure yet. We will have to wait till they start showing up at the dealers before we will know for sure. We've read in some articles that the JCWs have different internals, but we're not sure if they're comparing the JCW to the MCS, or the 2011 JCW to the 2012 JCW.
The 2012 JCW motor is the same as the 2011 JCW motor. The 2012 S motor is new, however. I'll take delivery of my 2012 JCW at the end of October and I'd be happy to get you any info you need, Chris.

I assume that was a typo. Did you mean the 2012 motor is the same as the 2011? If so, the 2011 JCW motor is compatible already with the Access Port, right?
MAF units?
The AP simply shows the word 'airflow' instead of a unit for the MAF readings. At WOT I see MAF values go over 400 easily and it does not look like grams/sec, but I can't figure out what it is.
Thanks,
JL
Thanks,

The number you're seeing is a number the ECU uses for intake MAF calibration, that isn't in a standard unit that we would normally see. Cutting numbers in half is close to grams per second, but not quite. It's not super important though, since it isn't used in any tables that we modify in the tunes.
Just received my Accessport in the mail today. Hooked it up to the computer, downloaded and updated the firmware, and ran out to the car to play. Once I connected the unit to the car, It displays an error on the screen that its incompatible with my car, and to call support. It did allow me to backup the ECU, but would not allow me to complete the install.

hope that helps...
What I just noticed from the Image I was able to download from the ECU, is that the image name is H910BLME04. I had the car reflashed by the dealer a couple months back, is this new version not yet supported?

Mine took about 1 week from the time I placed the order, and when I received the unit. Alta was very good about communications during this time, checking my car's config, to see if I would need non-default maps.
I had just about the same type of error message on mine when I first tried to use it on my '11 JCW and Chris told me to use the beta version of the ALTA software. After I upgraded the ALTA unit to the beta, it found the car, I was able to install the new map, and it works great now.
Sorry to be a little late on this, if the beta update isn't working, email me a copy of the ECU. The AP will give you the option of dumping the ECU after it doesn't recognize the car.
The AccessPORT comes preloaded with all the maps you're going to need.
Since you're in California, it will take up to 3 days once it leaves our warehouse. We have them in stock, so it should be going out very soon!
