I know a fairly well-regarded Comp. Elliminator tuner who told me "Richard, folks buy HP, but they *drive* torque..." And I'll be damned if he ain't right...[/QUOTE]

A question from a noob...

So I got the AP with the drop-in filter. I've had it on the MINI for almost 2 weeks now.
Last night I noticed/started hearing the OEM BOV (faintly) but it was there. Since I haven't really heard this on the car before, I just wanted to know if this has to do with changing the OEM filter to the drop-in filter or do I have a leak somewhere. I checked the intake tubes and they all seem to be tightly on. I haven't noticed/felt any drop in power or boost.

Thanks in advance.

Got the stage 1 running right now. When I finally get stage 3 going I just thought I would let everyone I am going to jail.

Especially given the fact that an exhaust compatible with stage 3 is so loud that it attracts the police from miles away.

Mr. Head Honcho,

With that said can you release a map that has pop/burble like the 2011+? You should be able to port that map over for 07-10 MCS. I'd like(and I'm sure most of us) an OTS stage 1 or stage 2 pop burble map, even if it's not as obnoxious at the r53. You'd sell future APs like hotcakes and we wouldn't have to deal with a tuner who is hard to reach and paranoid about "secret" tunes.

I've been reading about this accessport for a while now. Has anyone ran across any issues with hurting the car itself? Do you feel it is worth the money?

Agreed. I'm looking forward to the day when they crack the 2011 ECU open. Granted, I have only 1500 miles on my car so far, but I'm still excited

Following up on my previous post, where I was unable to get the AccessPort to recognise my car.

I sent my ECU information to Chris to sent it to Cobb, and within a few days , a new beta version of the accessport software was available. I downloaded the new beta, and was able to install the "Stage 1 92+ tps" map on my car. I was not too impressed with the tps map, so after another followup with Chris, I installed the "Stage 1 92+" map, and am impressed with the improvement in acceleration.

It does seem odd that there is not a Stage 1+ for folks who have a JCW CAI and Exaust. So, I will be pushing Chris to see if he can do something. :-)

I think that is a great idea. For those who have done intake/exhaust with deleted 2nd cat but kept stock downpipe.

In a perfect world, we would have a map for every single modification, but unfortunately, we don't. That's what tuning shops are for! The Mini is able to recognize modifications pretty well, and take advantage of them, even without specific tuning for it. The JCW intake and exhaust don't make much of a difference in power, so those don't require a different tune. A deleted second cat may make a little difference, but not huge, since it still has one of the stock restrictive cats still.

I normally never bother to wholeheartedly endorse a specific product but i have to say ethe AP is THE single best mod for the dollar that i have ever had on any of my cars. We previously had a unichip and it made the car fast but was quirky. Added a downpipe and jcw rear section and k&n drop in. Stock i would get about 30mpg flat combined city and hwy. With the unichip and dp my avg dropped to around 27. I then removed the unichip because of issues and on stock tune with exhaust my mileage was bad at 25.x.
The other day i changed the oil, replaced the BRISK plugs (which never worked well no matter how i gapped them) with denso and fired it up, went for a quick drive to see how it was with new plugs for basis of comparison before i flashed the ap. It was defintely a bit smoother but after 15 mins of cruising i stopped and installed the stage 1 tps map. The difference is night and day. It sounded totally different than before, with no cats it was a bit ricey and no longer is, the idle is more stable, it pulls harder and has a much more usable powerband than it ever has, and overall is a much better and more enjoyable car. On top of that, with the same mods that netted me 25mpg right before i am now averaging over 31mpg for normal driving. For those of you on the fence, do it. It is worth every penny and then some. My girlfriend wanted to shop around and try to find a deal on a second hand ap, after driving it i can assure anyone i would gladly pay 895 after seeing what it can do.

sorry if this was asked before but can you use the accessport and the scangauge2 at the same time? I'm not 100% sure if they use the same port yet.

What's the difference between the tps and non-tps map? I think I am running the tps-version and I forgot to ask what the non-tps version differences were before.

From what I know, I think tps is a linear throttle with ultra linear throttle in sport mode. Non tps use throttle settings like the stock throttle.

You can use the scangauge if you want. The AccessPORT is only plugged into the OBD when you're loading a map or doing a datalog.

The TPS is the linear throttle map that we've made for the manual transmission cars. They both make the same amount of power, we just like the feel a lot better when the throttle is more linear.

I like the TPS a little more I think I am going to turn back on in a couple of days so I can get a feel for the nonTPS.

This is for Chris at Alta, Is the AP compatible with an auto Coutryman. My R56 is no more [totaled in a rollover-not my fault!] and I would like to install it on my wife's auto Countrynam. Has any one tried int on the CM yet?
