I'm sure it's well discussed on here some where..don't have the time to dig for it..but for the cost of the SWOKS mods there must be a better offer for performance add ones at more cost savings. Am I correct in my thinking?

You can get alot more bang for the buck with aftermarket mods. The JCW kit, while nice, is grossly overpriced. Your decision really boils down to how much money you want to spend, or not spend as the case may be, and how important your warrenty is to you. And your right, this topic has been done to death.

I said no to JCW and I am waiting for the Dinan Kit. Hard decision since Crevier MINI had two JCW kits in stock (one with my name) but the $$$$$$ vs $$$ made the difference for me.

Also both keep the warranty for whatever that turns out to be worth.

I chose the JCW route and so far have no regrets. Big grins tips and you get some badges too ops:. Of course the warranty remains completely intact which was important to me since I put more than average miles on my car every year.

If you have a MCS and want options besides the JCW kit then.

Consider DINAN's stage 1 or 2 upgrades due out in March 2004 for under $2000 (stage 1) and 6 hours labor with 4 year warranty from DINAN and installed at BMW shops (DINAN approved ones) or under $3000 (stage 2) with 10 hours labor and same warranty. The JCW kit and DINAN stage 2 are roughly the same-not exactly.

Or like many of us you can do various mods on your own and mix and match what you would like.

I like "Minicoopermike" have no regrets!!!

I've driven many from stock "S" to 225+ super tuners and I'm happy with my choice. As a builder and racer of vintage racecars, I can tell you, it's not always about the money.

The "WORKS S" Mini is everthing they promised and more!

Enjoy your Mini, whatever direction you decide to take!!!

Like Bud-SD, I'm very satisfied with the JCW. Absolutely no regrets; runs great, no worries. goes like hell...

I decided against the WORKS Kit. I can afford it, but in my mind spending an extra $6,000 on a $20K car doesn't make sense. I added an intake and I plan to add a 17% pulley and an exhaust (about $1,200 total) and call it a day. Then I'll have plenty of money left over for a rear sway bar, and anything else.

Yes the JCW gives you a warranty but you are paying an extra 3K for that piece of mind. If you get the JCW kit and abuse the car on the road or the track, that warranty won't cover you anyway. (The car's internal computer will track you rpm's, speed etc. if you plan of abusing the car on the track, etc.)

It's your money so what ever feels right to you. There is no wrong or right answer. (Before I bought my car, I also started a post regarding this.)

If the JCW kit was cheaper, maybe $3K installed I probably would have went for it. If I was going to spend close to $6K on mods for a car, I would spend it on my Z06.

I agree. The S was $3k more than the Cooper and was well worth it. For another $3k if the JCW was installed at the factory I would have gotten it also. Again whatever makes you happy. And from Andy's 1/4mile page, it looks like a pulley, intake and exhaust (~$1200) will beat a JCW. Add a ECU and maybe even a smaller pulley and...wahoo!
