I am not sure if this has been covered before, but for those of us who consistently use 93 octane gas, is it possible to tweak the tune a bit more to take full advantage of the high octane stuff?

After I downloaded the corrected files in Jan's link above, all went as planned, my thumb drive had a corrupted setup file but the PDF was A-OK.

I will download my ECU and send files over the weekend.

I suspect Jan is very busy since he has work on the east coast.

Not sure I want him adjusting maps at midnight after a long day on the dyno and late dinner/brewskies.

Don

Btw, installed on a Window 7 machine, so far so good.

Another success story!

Received the tool; downloaded the setup file from Jan's link (one on USB drive didn't work) - everything went great. I now have the stock file on my machine.

Note - I am on a 'corporate' computer running XP. I do NOT have the option of selecting 'run as administrator' - but it all still worked with the downloaded setup.exe file.

WAY looking forward to the tuned file!!!

Thanks Jan!

Thanks, Chris. I really should do the emulator anyway. 'Sides, as I'm already RMW Tuned, this is all just backup. No hurry.

Anyone able to answer that for me as posted previously?

Hey Jan, what are the differences for a high altitude tune versus normal?

Also, for those that have downloaded the file for Jan to tweak, how long did it take to download it from your car?

I didn't actually time the download; but it felt like several minutes; maybe as much as five - and I was surprised the resulting file was only 56k in size.

It would help if somebody could post up instructions in a step by step . I'm just a dumb fireman I need all the help I can get.

I'm waiting patiently for my tuning tool to arrive but I did follow the links and downloaded the software yesterday. I was able to open and install the application - I'll have to wait for the tool to ensure it works though. I'm running WIN XP Pro via parallels on an iMac and I haven't had any issues with USB devices not playing well with this set up so I'm hoping my luck will continue with the tuning tool. if not, I guess I'll have to pick up a netbook somewhere for it...

I've heard that the tool can only be used on one vehicle? Is it "married" to the VIN number? Or, are the tunes only good for one vehicle and the tool itself can be used to D/L the ECU of multiple vehicles?

I'm wondering the same thing.

Just got home from work and to quote from above "The Eagle has landed"... Mr. FEDEX dropped a box on my doorstep and it's my tuning tool. I'll be testing the setup on my system in the next few minutes.

I'm sorry, since I already have Jan's tune, I haven't even hooked it up yet.

Sorry.

If you are able to download the files that Jan posted or open the files that come on the flash drive, you should be good to go. One of the files is a PDF that's about 12 pages of step-by-step instructions. I just went through the instructions with the tool in hand and the software setup was just like installing anything else, updating the software and device was just as written in the instructions and the process in the car and then downloading and emailing the ECU file went just fine.

Feel free to PM or email me if you have questions, I'll be glad to help if I can.

Craig

The tool is only good for 1 vehicle. when you first hook up the tool to the car it will go through a protocol check and after you read out the stock ECU the tool has your VIN encoded in its memory. When you look at the info section of the software on your computer with the tool pluged into the USB port, you will see all your car info.
