Drivetrain ***OFFICIAL SIGN-UP THREAD for FLASH TOOL***
Ok, got everything opened up and went to read the instructions on the included thumb drive but the PDF won't show anything other than the Terms and Conditions. All other pages are blank and Adobe Reader keeps giving me an error. Anybody willing to email a working PDF?
Adobe file says that "The root object is missing or invalid" and the Setup.exe says "Corrupt installation detected, check source media or re-download."
Jan (or anyone)- any thoughts or solutions?
I'm having the same issues with the setup file also. Anyway we can get a link to a working version of the file?
Oh man, I've got the same issue. I was all excited to find this at my doorstep, but upon popping in the flash drive I've realized that neither the .pdf file nor the Setup .exe file will open.

Don't have time, I'm having waaay too much fun! Besides, this old dogface don't break his word to a Marine. Is that enough of a teaser? LMAO
Flash Drive Problems
Got mine today. I was able to read the flash drive and copy the files to my PC but the install fails (corrupt) and the PDF won't open (corrupt file). Can anyone ZIP the files and email them to me at brian@forte-systems.com?

I just got my tool a few hours ago after getting my tune at Helix (which is awesome, i posted results in that thread) and I was told when i open the setup to (right click it and...) Run as administrator, and it worked for me... Not sure if that will fix the problem for you guys, but its worth trying

Not sure why some of the flash drives are not working. I'm on the phone now with Italy working on it.
MAKE SURE TO OPEN THE SOFTWARE ETC USING ............RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
IF YOU DO NOT...........it WILL NOT work correctly
this has been the case on most of the problems. As for the PDF file not working, they are working on that. Everyone just wait for the answers as I will post them up asap. The ones I have done work fine. Send me emails on what software platform of windows you are using.
thanks
jan

Larry,
That is the whole point of buying this tool. It's so if you want to put the stock tune back into the car, you can and then revert it back once you're done.
Having said that... I can tell you from personal experience that having a tune doesn't much matter.
I had some issues that I had my entire drivetrain warranty voided because the manufacturer found out I had a tune and blamed my problem on the tune.
It turns out that the issue I was having (melted valvecover TWICE) was caused from an exhaust leak between the turbo and DP.
Once I showed that to them, they reinstated my warranty and all is fine.
The law specifically protects end users by basically saying that unless the manufacturer can blame a modification on a particular issue, they can't void the warranty.
"The federal minimum standards for full warranties are waived if the warrantor can show that the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by damage while in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance."
My dealership knows I have a tune and as long as the tune isn't directly responsible for damaged parts under warranty, there's no issue.
(and just for the record, I've got 17K miles on my car with one of Jan's tunes. I assure you if there was a problem, it would have shown up by now)
HTH's,
Mark
I have already decided that I am going to put on the tune now I am trying to decide on other mods. I really like the sound of the Stratmosphere exhaust and then there is the intake!!! I am going to talk to my local dealer about their stance on specific mods. I am sure they are going to push me toward the JCW kit.

Now I just need to get this tune...of course today I dropped my car at the dealership and won't have it back until next week (likely), so that's no help. Ahhhh well- soon enough.
Thanks again Jan- will be in touch soon.

Me First?
Believe I was the first to get the Tune n' Tool (here-in-after: TNT!) last Thur. Went to Jan's place where the install went smooth as silk. OK, both of us were a bit nervous when the starter button was pushed the last time. Fired right up! Jan then sorta implied it would be a good idea for me to clam-up till he gave the OK
. Told him I'd PM him with the results of a +500mi. test two days later, but decided to do it here. WHOOPEE did I have FUN!!! A good mix of Interstate speed (+75mph) and mega-twisty's of the Caliente Canyon/Walker Basin loop in the Tehachapi/Sierra foothills. A modded 325i stayed with me for about a half mile, but then kinda disappeared from the mirrors LOL. Wasn't really trying, but the worst mpg I saw was 28.7 and the best of 33.2. Only drawback was deciding to turn the DSC on to save the tires during 2nd gear corners! The old butt dyno says I'm having HUMONGOUS FUN

I bought the Tune n' Tool, but I had the tune done by Jan personally yesterday over at Helix on a dyno, so i'm not sure if that's what you mean, or you want results of somebody who wasn't with Jan, but was done remotely....
Either way, i posted up my results over in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...pr-10-a-7.html

Got my Tuner today....
Emailed Jan with my stock ECU mapping and awaiting my modified tune. Can't wait to get it reinstalled. Then let the fun begin
BTW, everything worked right out of the box on a Windows 7 machine.
