Newbs,

Every time I go to the dyno I'm trying different combos besides the water/meth so it's never really a true apples to apples comparison from test to test. That being said, I had a slightly slipping belt during this session. (As a side note, the belt did shred itself during the session and sent bits flying past Jan's head, as he was standing at the front of the car. Could have set MINI tuning back a bit if Jan had taken a few bits to the brain bucket and needed medical attention. I must be hard on belts as this one only lasted 3000 miles ) Anyway, there was the slipping belt and if I remember it was about 90 degrees ambient. I don't have the dyno files, I keep forgetting to get them from Jan, but I do have the paper here. From when I rolled in until the belt let go, I gained about 15lbft at 4000, 10lbft at the peak (at about 5200) and is still up over 10lbft at 6600.
Now let me be clear about this. Everyones results will vary. We were playing with the tune and jetting the whole time as well. I don't know what exactly Jan has done as far as map changes, but it is supposed to be slightly more water/meth dependent. That being said, I drove it home over the mountain passes that night with out the system on and didn't have any issues, but I didn't hammer on it with the system off either.
As far as peak numbers the first few runs weren't to 7500 but 7000, so peak number comparisons aren't there. I would like to get back down to the dyno soon as I'd like to see what what it does in the cooler weather, as there are many, many more variables in play here than most people realize and I have more ideas to try.

D-MAN, if I had my druthers, I'd spend all day on the dyno testing different items, but it can get expensive. But I must say, Church's was very accommodating, as the belt broke late in the day and they stayed late while we tried to shoe horn a too small belt on my car without the proper tool to get it home.
All I can say is I've tried a lot of things, and I have many more to try, very soon. And no, Jan and I haven't gone ***** out with the tune yet as we'd prefer we take reasonable steps, and not have to load a new set of slugs in the motor, or worse.

Thanks
I think I have spent more $ on dyno time than the cost of the actual meth kit, playing around with different variables also trying to get the most out of it

Thanks for the info. Jan wants me to put his 1.8 in my GP but it comes down to $$$$ and being in the auto bus. right now is a little scarey. Looks like head ,cam ,pulley and meth this spring. The man wants me to tear the tracks apart here in the east.

Yes it is. I can't wait till spring when the little "cute " car goes out with added toy's. Maybe I should run the Euro Tuner next year. Wait till they see your Numbers and times with your new little blower.

"Smoke and Mirror's" as one of the competitors would say.
When you know the right people you can fudge the times.

Can't believe a track would post phoney numbers.

you can go to Speed Ventures and see the section where they keep your times..... Pretty nice of them so you can see each lap and your progress

Too Bad BMWCCA won't do that, but it's an insurance thing. Your not even allowed to have timing devices in car.

Can we get back to your meth systems and maps? You just keep putting more ways to spend money in my head.

Devils Own kits are great, alot of the Turbododge guys swear by them. One of the guys on Turbododge.com is a vendor for Devils Own.

The w-m system is a good one, I know a few running them. I have the snow performance with their "varie boost control", pulling the pressure from my boost gage / reg pressure line. seems to work great!! I have it spraying in after the I/C and the results were pretty good!! 10 HP gain on a 30% mix, and then on the bottle I pulled an additional 12 HP and 21 tq on a 50% mix!!

I should think it is a great system.. esp if you dont have any tuning capability.

Just me..............................

In the past I've mounted the pump where the fog-lights would go and used the headlight tank, totally concealed install. It's only 2.5qts though, so depending on how you drive you might have to check it every 1-2 days.

So Thumper - you're using Snow's "standard" controller that comes with the stage 2 kits, that just responds to boost? Or the fancy schmancy one that can use both boost and injector pulse width?

big_howe - would the Snow controller that can respond to pulse width overcome some of the issues you mentioned regarding the MINI's non-linear boost/load relationship?

Blimey, theoretically yes, but the rest of the system still has significant limitations, that is that it's a pump-speed based system.
