Drivetrain shift lite
I was planning on doing this as well--anyone out there have any success? Also, EXE..., can you tell us more about how you wired this up--eg, did you buy a separate RPM-activated switch for the light? Standard ignition or upgraded to MSD (whcih i suspect might play better with the autometer setup)?

I installed a Stewart Warner Ultra Shift Light (www.sw-performance.com) in my MCS last weekend. It works great!
The Ultra Shift Light is a shift light with an LED display in the center the displays RPM’s. The light has three wires; Ground (black), +12 (red), and the pulse to the coil (green).
The coil, located on top of the engine, has a connector with three wires coming out of the back of it. The wires are Blue/Black, Red, and Red/Black. The Blue/Black wire is a negative pulse wire. I tapped this wire about 4 inches from the coil and tied in the green wire from the shift light. The Stewart Warner Ultra Shift Light is programmable. It needs to be set on PRR1 for the MCS.
The hardest part of the whole install was running the wires. I have my shift light mounted on the dash, centered in front of the steering wheel. This position gave me the best view while allowing me to keep my eyes on the track/road. I ran the wires through the defroster ducting. I did drill a hole in the dash into the ducting to run the wires. You must be very careful when drilling and running the wires because the wiring harness is under the ducting.
Hope this helps.

I got the autometer quick shift lite to work in my particular application which might not work for others . I wanted the lite to go on at 6k just to let me know when i was in the high rev range when playing in the canyons. With the motor sound and tire noises etc i found myself rounding a corner seeing a short straight and gong for more only to hit the rev limiter as I wasn't aware i was quite that high in the rev range. In any event i got it to work for that particular range by connecting the signal wire to the black and red wire coming out of the back of the coil pack. The trick is that this doubles the RPM number but by putting the stock 3k " pill " that comes stock with the lite I ended up with the 6k signal i was looking for. Bottom line is you want it to go off at 6k that's a easy deal. Anything else and you need the Pilo item.If you really want a superior shift lite try the Gtech Pro. That is the little console on top of my dash in the picture. It has 4 of the brightest leds I have ever seen. As i get to 6200 one goes off, 6400 / 2 go off , 6600/ 3 go off and 6800 all 4 flash. you CAN'T miss it.You set the red line as you want and it steps itself up to it automatically. If i had bought it first I probably would not have bought the autometer unit. Randy

I like the Stewart Warner one that Fabdog has very much:
http://www.sw-performance.com/Prods/11UltrShft.html
It however has a warning that states:
!!!-NEVER CONNECT GREEN WIRE TO THE COIL WHEN USING AN MSD OR SIMILAR HIGH OUTPUT CAPACITIVE DISCHARGE STYLE IGNITION SYSTEM-!!!.
Having the Plasma Booster, I was cautious, and decided to email Stewart Warner to get their input. I got a response back in about 1 hour. They actually called Ignitions Solutions to get the details. Very cool. I wanted to share with others who might be considering the same. Here is their response:
I spoke with the ignition solutions people. That system is not like the MSD system with respect to extremely high coil primary voltage. The coil voltage is not increased with your system. MSD's system puts out 4 to 5 hundred volts as opposed to 14 volts on a normal system. The Ultra-Shift light should work just fine. Just connect to the coil negative.
Thank you,

The Pilo Racing Shift Light System has been completed. I am working on graphics and such for the items, but have 2 Adapters in stock. I will be getting stock of every thing in the coming weeks. These are not listed on my site yet, but will be soon. Please contact me if you are interested in this item. This Shift Light is infinitly adjustable from 3K to 12K RPM. No "Pills" needed to set the RPMS

Shift Light in Action
This will be posed in Product Announcements as well
Thanks

>>The GTech sites states that you only need to hook up the cig lighter to get RPM, is that true? Is it accurate when compared to your factory tach?
>>
Yes, it is true.
You need to calibrate the RPM setting to teach the GTech. They say you can do it while standing still, but I find it less accurate as small fluctuation in foot pressure prevent accurate setting. Confused?
1-The GTech ask you to set a low setting of 2k (user changeble).
2-When you've got the Mini's RPM at exactly 2k, hit the set button.
3-Next is the high setting of 4k (user changeble).
4-repeat step 2.
I set my while in motion. Wife looked ahead (country road) while I adjusted RPM. For the 2k, I had it 4th. I then switched the high to 5k and adjusted RPM while in 3rd as to not to go too fast

I ran the gtech witha drag run last friday. I was a whole 3 tenths off. I find that the Tach / Shift light works pretty well, but for 250, and not being so accurate it is not really worth it. That and you can not record autocross runs. It is a cool TOY though.
It is definatly a very interesting toy/tool. I noticed something funny today however . I was somehow getting G force readings on the meters with out even moving. I had the audio up a bit tho do you think that had anything to do with it?http://www.maxmini.net/images/newpics2/shifliteaA.jpg
