Hi, I'm new here and have not seen much of anything on a short shifter kit for a pre-september of 2003 production model short shift kit (there might be a thread on here about this but I've not found it so sorry if there is). Every adjustable kit I have looked at like the Craven Speed one and the Megan Racing one all say it's only compatible with pre-september of 2003 model year or newer r53. Is there an adjustable short shifter kit for a 2002 mini cooper S, or do I have to use one of the Craven Speed Helix Short Shifter Kit ones that aren't adjustable? Thanks!

 

there must be a minor difference between the shift linkages..... check realoem.com to see if a 2002 and a 2003 have the same shift lever, if they do, I don't think youll have a problem, I know there was a change between shift bushings but I think it was an 03-04 difference

 

The Helix short shift kit has adapters for both pre and post 04 cars. It's a direct bolt on that doesn't require removing the shifter assembly from the car.

 

We actually have a limited run of 02-03 Adjustable shifters in production right now. They should be ready sometime in October 2015.

OP, sorry, didn't mean to threadjack. I did extensive research on this subject as well as my '04 JCW has the earlier style shifter box as well, and there is a difference.

Cool, the small batch of 02-03 shifters will be ready soon. I think we just need to make one more piece before assembling them.
