JCW Exhaust Resonator Delete Help?!?!
so im gonna be deleting my resonator off my JCW exhaust.. but i wanna know technically whats gonna happen?
will the shop put replacement tubing in place of the resonator?
is there a way they can flange one end of the pipe and clamp the other end so there's no welding?
for anyone who's done this< can you shed some light so i know what to tell the people at the exhaust shop and or so they wont ******** me or screw my car up lol
oh ya! and im cruious about how the sound is without the resonator.. ive heard some youtube videos but if i can get some feedback from peeps that be awesome too! any side effects or bad stuff from deleting the resonator?
let me know!
thanks everyone!

You can buy the resonator elimination kit or have a shop make a similar pipe. The problem with having a shop make the pipe with a flange is getting the angles correct without having a gig fixture set for the correct angles. The shop can do it but it will be trial and error with probably a few errors. You will probably end up with a pipe section that has been cut and welded a few times until they get it correct.
I used the resonator elimination kit and then had a shop weld it in the rear because I could not get a good seal with the clamp.
I thought the JCW was too quiet with the resonator but I did not like the snap, crackle, pop with the resonator removed.
There are a couple threads on the resonator eliminator if you do a search.

I thought it was annoying. Too much crackle/snap in the burble. I love loud exhaust but it was a little too ricey for me. I just did not like it on my 2006 GP. It was not like having a louder exhaust because I had a Borla Sport/Race on the GP for a while and it sounded great (just a little too loud inside the GP, with no rear seat/insulation, for my passengers). I now have a Milltek that is about as loud as the JCW without resonator but sounds much better, deeper without so much crackle. However, many people like the JCW without the resonator.

No, I believe that is a one-ball pipe. You actually want one of these...
Note there are two versions, one for the "original" JCW exhaust and one for the factory verison. The original is just bolt on, the factory requires cutting to install, and so is harder to reverse.
50k miles on my resonator-less JCW and still loving it. Really barks at wot and high revs.

Check out this thread here... I did the Resonator eliminator my self and barely cost me anything... it sounds sweet too there is a video link also and some good discussion

Easiest: the pre-made pipe (you will need new bolts to attach the flange as the OE pipe has pressed in studs).
Cheapest: removing your OE pipe and have an exhaust shop weld in a straight section. I would insist they use stainless steel.
Sound: IMO, it can vary. So far, every single JCW exhaust equiped car has sounded different, with or without the resonator... and then there's the matter of personal preference.
