WAITING
preferably in his own thread but that would require him stepping up and being a vendor. then again, it's not really 'his cam' since he's not mining the minerals, running the furnace, forging the blank and turning the profile. right?

If you read my previous post perhaps you may have picked up on I do know a little about camshaft design.
Then again maybe not
**Cam card is that paper that usually comes with you camshaft that tells the specification so you can do many things like "dial in the cam". And most of all KNOW what you are getting.

I only made a comment about this thread having to do with this thread. Questions and comments were made and asked directed at me on the comments. Which in effect is part of this thread, which I answered.

Still, a before and after dyno graph would be nice (in your own thread of course). You may not care for RMW's "cookie cutter" cam, but it has proven, documented results. And although it would be great for everyone to have a custom spec cam, most of us don't know enough about it and wouldn't have a clue what to get. It's impossible to be an expert at everything, and when your not you have to look to those that know more than you and trust their advice. I'm a CPA and deal with complex income tax matters every day. The reason why I have a job is because people don't have the time or capacity to figure it out for themselves. Jan's talent is cars, he offers parts that deliver and he's one of the best guys to do business. That's why he has such a loyal customer based. I assume your forte is cars also, and while some of your input is constructive, it seems to many of us that you don't understand your prospective customers very well and could learn a thing or two from Jan's business model.

All this from me making a response and saying something about a “mild Cam” ? As you started this query I believe first and foremost that Jan's talents is in accounting or stocks? Cars fall in another order. I NEVER mentioned RMW or JAN’s cam(s) to be “cookie cutter cam(s)” I think that was assumed like the phrase “CANNED TUNES” they just have that bad air feeling around the slang?
My postings do try to help broaden the information limited to many. And it seems entertaining why it is always considered questionable when I give ample ways to try to show my incorrectness? Also why is there a continuing assumption that I have any value in a customer base? I DO NOT! Clever miss direction on the part of a few wouldn’t you say? And to understand what you are saying about talent I would consider more that Jan has a talent for acquiring talent to support his salesmanship. The quite minority is still considering his tuning talent. But then he is a vendor of sorts while I am not here on NAM.
And lastly I NEVER made any claims on the cams I had ground for myself.

If you re-read my posting it was a of a question of why there are not more of a variety of cams available to choose from. Did that get overlooked?
Back to something within the scope of this topic:
I would say that even Jan would respond that camshafts are like tuning. You have to work with different specifications to get the best desired power level. As an example the schrick or Ultrick camshaft does very well in some minis and very bad in others. No matter who tunes it. Also both of these cams are based on low and mid range rpm performance with regards to being very street able. The specification is about a 20 -25% increase in OEM specifications. This makes for a user-friendly cam that will idle well and perform adequate. A more aggressive cam would not have the same characteristics. I.e. rough or lopy idle, gas mileage would be lower bottom end would be almost gone. But mid range and top RPM level would be very much improved. However it would not be a tuner friendly camshaft. The tuner would have to earn his money and really know what they were doing. Fundamentally speaking a vendor would not sell to many of these camshaft for the average street Mini.

Lynn you spelt my name wrong, I ask that you spell it correctly with a picture of the cam next to a coke can and you giving a thumbs up! Then I wil beleive you!
OK funny, now please keep your information about your personal products out of another VENDOR'S thread and if you decide to advertise, you should look over the guidelines and become an actual vendor. If you fail to do so infractions will be in your near future.Thank you.

Also as you are not a moderator please do not assume things and post information that should come from them. Go through the proper procedure having concerns with NAM guidelines.
I think that if I was incorrect in my postings that someone would have demonstrated that earlier. What I post is useful information to some.
I would think if this were a vendor ad as per the NAM guidelines it would be a bit different. But it is not. So enjoy the thread and the responses and stop making this so personal. It is not about you.
No I am sorry but my responses are right in line in line with the thread as it is going. Read early posts and you will see that it an informal vendor thread. And I am well within all the NAM guidelines. However your comments to me to re frame from posting are not within the NAM guidelines. You may want to review them yourself. I am not selling any product nor am I advertising any other vendor’s products. The cam in the picture is a one off cam that I had done for myself. The cam card pictured is the proof of that to see that it was a special grind and not big fish stories on my part. Which I think was the intention directed at me in an earlier post from another member? Any cam grinder including the many that RMW uses can grind a one off cam for anyone with a simple phone call. Many would be very surprised at the price and how easy it is to get one. Also the other many grinders have a lot of information that they are more then willing to share. Unlike some that think that grinds should remain a mystery. If I was to recommend a cam grinder I would say call WEB CAMS. It is one that RMW uses. I personally choose different ones to use.

Chris.
P.S. notice my name is in BLUE instead of black or the purple vendor color...
MY original post that seem to start all this was the comment I made in response to [quote=El_Griton;2343601]........I was very surprised to see an almost stock idle after the cam. /quote]
“mild cams will do that”
Now if I were as you claim Dan “keep in mind this is like the hundredth time he's been warned....unless there's some weight thrown behind this, Lynn will continue to berate this vendor.”
I might have responded by placing Jan at RMW on the spot and asked him to explain how a cam works. I didn’t open that up for debate because Dan I only wanted to leave a playful response. If any member looks into the specifications of cam they could very easily see the differences in cam specifications and how some cams seem to lope. In fact I gave a suggestion in a post as to a slight change in one aspect of a cam that would make it a bit lopy sounding. Dan I believe it is how you may be reading and individually interrupting the information I posts. Again Dan its not personal please stop trying to direct that way to make it as though I am wondering how you would know if I have ever been warned so often. I presumed that that information if so was under the PM which is personal message? But for clarity I think a mention to observe the guidelines more carefully was recommended.
