ok, terrific. that's one of many discrepancies between 'the same' and 'quite different'.

here's a thought - if you want to keep dogs like me sleeping - QUIT DISTORTING FACTS TO PUSH YOUR AGENDA.

Same as fracky's...........

I understand that there can be as much as 20hp difference between similiar years of MINI's and mods. Why would anyone think that just because they have similiar mods that the numbers would be the same.
I have a co-worker who had a Jan tune done and he came up to almost 210 hp with just the basic pulley, intake, exhaust mods. Much more than some were able to get with similiar mods. Should those other folks get mad at Jan cause they didn't get the same power out of their cars?

of course... this is NAM after all

seriously though, If it was me in Fracky's shoes and I thought the cam DIDN'T make the power I would take the manufacturer up on his offer to test if for FREE

just goes to show that adding parts to the mix which are detrimental to the car hinder performance.... basic mods like pulley, cam/header and tune are the backbone of the car. Then a properly designed head etc to really get the power out

no idea, but you guys not posting your dyno sheets tells me you have something to hide. when was the last time you saw an RMW customer refusing to post it?

Then why did you do the modifications on your car? I think you are just bitter that your friend makes just as much power as you w/o the cam

And I bet you both fueled up at same gas station too? Again, way too many variables to consider when comparing cars? Also, peak numbers are usually irrelevant, it's about the area under the curve...that's the biggest benefit of Jan's cam.

that is the beauty of the dynapack

you can run the car on the dyno and it records the distance travelled in the time ran. It will show which car is faster because of the area under the curve

you can have a car with greater hp that runs a slower time

This is something YOU CANNOT do on a dynojet. There is no way of tuning a car on a dynojet like you can on a dynapack.

It seems to me that if you want to police grammar, you should look at your friend's posts before you start throwing rocks.
WOW, I love people like you. Because I wrote yer insted of your or you're since I choose to use short hand on the internet you gotta come in here and take out yer problems on me? Sorry I use YER and other choice words coughunpossiblecough cause I try to keep it light. I'm sure you are a glorious example of the standard all should carry in day to day life. Using proper grammer in writing and of course elocution in speach at all times. A true example to follow.

Here's a link for you! Urban Dictionary: Yer #4 applies to this situation over all. Welcome to the internets!

GETTER DOOOONE!

Thanks for yet another pointless post. Especially considering you drive a MINI that this thread is not even applicable to. Thanks for the lesson MOM. :P

And uhhh since when am I friends with any of these guys? Oh wait. Is uhhh ok with you? I'll be sure to PM you (that's short for private message) from now on before posting anything.

Ok, since we're at ten pages now, its time for thread summary, to make it easier for those joining late who can't be bothered to read the whole thing:

Starts with a simple announcement about availability of a new cam, a bunch of people very excited about said cam, we learn shipping is very reasonable and that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, but costs more to ship to, lots of people start eating popcorn , cam doesn't affect idle much, said cam gets bashed (interestingly people began the pocorn gormandizing before the bashing, maybe a first on NAM), low end torque with the cam is improved, but if you get the cam, you probably ought to get a tune too, a bunch of stuff about injectors, cam gets bashed again out of the blue, lots more popcorn, even more out of the blue somehow M7 finds its way into the thread, one of the bashers is banned, more popcorn, grammar police come, previous basher of the cam has no interest in an objective demonstration on his own car with previously bashed cam, takes his ball and goes home, grammar police get attacked, as they inevitably do.

Yep, pretty much your standard template for any 10 page thread on NAM...

You've established yourself, you're a known commodity, and enough people respect what you do that you're really beyond that BS; don't feed the trolls, we all know better. You're not starting out anymore, your there. There are too many people who will chime in with what RMW can do if someone starts taking potshots; you've more than arrived--I personally believe you can pretty much stand above the fray, and do just fine--in fact I think you'll come out looking even better.

Try ignoring the next blatant attempt to attack your stuff, just as an experiment, and see what happens--I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised. All you need to do at this point is tell us what you got, how it works, throw it on a car, and show the end result. The results speak for themselves; let people criticize, and if they're unwilling to back up there claims, simply give them the response that they deserve--none.

I've seen too many posts about people haphazardly putting CAI's, Headers, exhausts, etc only to have them dyno less than stock. We know your stuff is well thought out, and it works well and plays well together, and the numbers back it up. Ignore the flames, and throw that out there every now and then, and people will get the message. I did (and I wish I would have sooner, I could have done things quicker, better and cheaper), but it would have been simpler and quicker for me to come to that understanding with a bit less fighting on the boards.

Again, just my 2 cents, from someone who is by no means an expert, but is trying to get as much performance out of my car as I can...
I try to stay out of these conversations and eventhough I am late to this back and forth talk I will have to 2nd everything you said in this post.

I was thinking of writing something very similar in regards to Jan in particular since I worked with him for 2 days in a tunning session recently. I don't think I need to re-emphasis how professional and detailed Jan is since everyone that has worked with him knows that by now.

Jan exceeded every expectations I had from him and his work along with his product. The most important part about being a Vendor/Developer is a satisfied customer, before, during and after you have done business with him. I can attest that from everyone that has worked closely with Jan along with myself and some very well known posters and thoughtful/experts in their own respect members of NAM ( one in particular Dr. O) that if not 100% but 99.99% have been happy. Guess no one can be completely perfect.

So Jan, from another satisfied customer and your humble follower in your work and products, allow me to share the same sentiments and opinions that the gentleman provided in his post above and 2nd everything he said. He literally beat me to it by picking the words right out of my mouth.

Keep up the good work and looking forward in seeing and working with you again very soon.

Your humble friend from Northern Cali.

Sharo

thanks for that. based on a PM I got last month from a now ex-moderator, I should have shown myself the door of this joint long ago as I 'add nothing of value to this site'. Funny, because my reply to that was a nice tall cup of stfu I'm still here, posting and not banned so perhaps I do contribute something

I've learned a lot from just the posts between you 2 and RMW. Things like which intercoolers work the best, skipping the small bolt on stuff (CAI's, MSD ) and going to cams, pulleys, and headers to make real power.
