87 octane?

mine shutters now from time to time with a stock cam. it lopes to the point it sounds like its going to quit, but never does, either pulls itself out of it, or i can tap the gas if i want it to straighten up immediately. oddly enough dropping from 93 to 89 octane fixes the problem. from what ive read, its a common stock problem....so i'm pretty used to some shuttering.....sometimes i like to pretend im in an old muscle car as it shutters at a traffic light or drive thru lol

Mine does the same exact thing, I haven't tried switching gas octane though, I feel bad putting lower than 93 even though it will run on lower octane. I haven't tried pretending I'm in an old muscle car, maybe I should try that...

i have found variation with this problem at the same octane (93)....so i think some brands may be better than others (?higher alcohol content in some winter gas?)? i know bmw's are pretty notorious for rough idles with cold starts, so it could be something that bone stock mini's experience as well? i don't know, i only had a bone stock mini for about 2 weeks
my point is that this may not be related to the cam at all

I've had my cam for 4 months now and have not noticed any difference in the idle, cold or warm.

if you want the Newman cam it's cheaper to buy direct from Newman if in Europe

if you want our proprietary one, you will need our head/header and tune for it to work properly

I'm a little Confused... I thought you only had one cam...

If so, I thought your cam worked just fine with the stock head and tune...but obviously better with your head and tune.

or, do you have 2 cams? One being the Newman cam and one being a custom ground cam? If you could shed some light, Jan, I would appreciate it.

I have 2 other cams already and 2 more on the way
these are more extreme cams and probably not for street use

yes, you got the best available for your situation, it was the best at that time of all of the cams we tested, and I tested over 8 different cam grinds

What we have now are not really street cams nor just for the 1.6L

as you well know things evolve, Honda's just didn't start producing 300whp overnight either. It was and still is a progression of sorts.

I doubt it ever really ends

kinda like this thread

Price is $400 + $15 shipping in the USA

Yes it works great on stock heads.....
expect around 10whp and 8-10ft lbs of torque

any chances of the price coming down to a respectable amount?
10 wHP. for $400 seems like not much bang for the buck.
