OMG OMG OMG is all I can say. Got the RMW cam and shorty header installed today at Minicorsa. The combo with my Invidia exhaust is AMAZING. It's louder and much meaner than before under WOT. The additional torque was very noticeable on my way home. Sadly, my axles are going bad and will need to be replaced, so I can't really push it too hard--but the sounds is amazing. Without WOT, it sounds like stock, but once you start hitting the gas hard, it roars and screams and just feels so good!

JCW 380cc injectors and a retune are next!

Richard

You're gonna love it. I never realized how much change the header would make to the sound of the Invidia. Everybody at the shop was like--WOW. Plus my '05 pops like crazy, so the popping/burbling is louder and more intense as well. Can't wait to drive to work today, lol. Been like a kid at Christmas all night--can't sleep, eager to go play with my new toy!

Richard you gotta take your hp/tq numbers off your signature until you get a new tune...you wouldn't want to misrepresent Jan with those numbers considering what you NOW have done to your car!! HEHE Can't wait to get my header...I have the Invidia too and would love a little more "noise". Great plug for RMW!

Haha good point! I'll fix that now. As for the Invidia--I've always loved the sound, but after the header OMG, it's just more of what's good about it. LOL, you'll like it. =)

ARGGH I wanna order it right now (well its 7:30am right now in Cali so can't do that) but I just dropped 1200 on BC's and H&R links for the dragon run in October...but I'm gonna have to do it before November (rumor of Jan coming to Philly) :::crossing fingers:::
BTW did jan hint at what to expect with the header and cam based on your current setup?

Good Lord willin', and the creek don't rise....

(that's YES for you normal folks).

So, when done, my engine config will be:
JCW intake w/AMSoil filter
Alta intake hose
JCW 380 injectors
15% pulley
RMW cam
RMW street header
one-ball exhaust
RMW tune (already done, a bit rich to allow for the cam).

... so about everything except the head.... which doesn't make sense for me on this specific MINI... but someday I'll have a trackrat....

So having read through all 12 pages trying to decide if this cam is one I'm interested in. I'm still undecided.

Can someone help me out and post a video of a before and after dyno of a car with this cam. There are too many factors in dynoing a car to trust a dyno chart alone.

The comments that Jan has made that the cam works fine with the stock head and tune indicate its a milder cam not far off from stock. I know a tune is critical to seeing results from any system but if the basis isn't far from stock...

Thanks for the help. Trying to decide if I should just call Andrews and have one made.

Sorry I can not help to just "Cam only" question since I put the CAM in Jans head, and header with a nice GP IC on top. Is the Cam worth it by itself?
I would say sure buy one set it aside in your garage and save for the RMW Header and Head and install them all at one time like I just did.

So now the question is, Is the cam worth it? Everytime I drive I can absolutley say Damn right! Worth every penny.

Now I just need Jan to come back East to Helix and tune this little monster with the 440's installed.

150 % sataisfied RMW & Helix Customer. (thanks Jan Eric and Ralph)

i called today to RMW and told me that first is better to install the short header and cam with the stock exhaust, and after that if you like it change it to the other header and MW exhaust, they told me that because if i like the exhaust stock sound, then is better to do that mods, what do you think?

Personally I am not a fan of the stock exhaust sound. I like to hear the car running but that’s just me. Remember it is all up to you and you can do what you personally like best. There is no one perfect set up.

I am sure if RMW recommended a set-up to get you the sound you are looking for it will be spot on.

I'm running the street header, and cam, with a one-ball stock exhaust (after faithfully following Paul's footsteps) and like it quite a bit.

Of course, my local shop only charged $40 to modify the stock exhaust... but it's a lot more aggressive (thanks to the cam and header) then it was with just the one-ball.

yeah, if you do the RMW header, you won't have any problems hearing the car running with the stock exhaust...

I have the cam and header and a rebuilt engine, so my experiences may not exactly be typical...however..today I'm leaving the country for a business trip, and left my MINI at the shop to have some paint work done. My biz partner drove the MINI out of one side of the shop to the other--his first time since all of the work that's been done, and he told me today that my car is wickedly fast...this is a guy who builds and drives 1000HP big block hot rods for a living lol.

However, never having had a cam before, I don't have any experiences to compare it to...when the car is cold, at idle if you don't give it some gas, it tends to want to sputter and die. It does this until it's warmed up. My car didn't do this before the RMW cam. I'm not saying it's the cam's fault, however it's if that bothers you, then don't mod the car. The resulting benefits of the cam/header are fantastic.

I think I finally ironed out my exhaust problems---atleast until I can afford the RMW quiet exhaust!

Richard
