Drivetrain Ireland Engineering exhaust
I stand to be corrected on this one. When it is hot, the exhaust tips actually stick out more (noticed it today) maybe due to heat induced metal expansion which only makes the matter worse of being already too much to start with!
At least the muffler is not touching the plastic trim yet.
I'm going to be in the market for an exhaust in a couple of months. I would seriously consider buying this exhaust if only the tips were better aligned. I'm not sure I like the way the outside tip angles out like a "V" from the inside tip. I see alot of emails about tweaking the production of these systems, is this something that will be changed in the future?
If they can do it with nicer tips and for the same price, it is a winner. I hope IE will sell those new tips by itself for us who got the original version. I am looking for an aftermarket nice tip that I can attach but it is hard find to get an inlet diameter of 2.75".

That's good. If they can sell only the add-on tips for a good deal for us who got the first version, we can honestly call ours as "real IE cat-back" and not a modified / hybrid? IE cat back. e.g. Magnaflow with Flowmaster ? Hush resonator.
I played around with my IE tip yesterday. I thought that it sounded better by covering the second tip (welded side/passenger side). Can other members confirm my experience?
If so, I will cut and close this side then center the other one with a nice single oval tip.

Bang110...
Try piling the inside hole of tip #2 to smooth it out and enlarge the opening. I did that and now it even burbles more.
Can you try covering the 2nd tip and hear if you like it better? I need second opinion before mutilation & plastic surgery.

I think a whistle in the system would be a deal killer for me... I would see if you could add an oval tube from the muffler out.... You could get one transition and one 90 deg bend....
see here... parts A and B... Only issue is the A transition is long... http://www.boyceindustries.com/oval-...omponents.html

IE is working on the 1st batch of the Big Mouth Bass tips. Once they are ready to SHIP I'll post them here. I would hate to post a pic of something I can't ship the same day.

Yes I will, that's why I want to make sure they are ready to ship when I post the pic.
So will there be a couple of sizes on these tips as different catback systems have different sizes of the exit pipes? Or does one size fit all, and the allen screws will just be at different positions?
Show us those pics!

yea, kinda like that
A few details, It's just for the IE catback system. It could be retro fitted, but we will be selling it to and for current owners of the IE "S" Catback system. NO FART CAN! All that is being changed is the tip look. Not sure how or if it will change the sound of the IE system.
We've got an IE cat-back on the e30 track **** and we love it... Really made a nice difference versus the OEM cat-back on the e30 in sound and power. With the Dsylva EAT chip, it freakin' screams (ah man, it's so nice to just be able to replace an EPROM with a good tune - Dsylva spent a ton of time on the dyno tuning his stuff and it's so much better than other offerings out there for a stock M20 motor with bolt-ons).
HOWEVER, it has developed a crappy rattle after about 9 months - the car only gets driven to and from the track and autocross (about 12-15 times a year). It's bad around 1-2.5K RPM's and then goes away. It sounds like an internal baffle has broken loose. We've always had good luck with IE swapping out busted parts, so we're hoping they swap it out for us...
