Drivetrain Ireland Engineering exhaust
Thats the main thing I DIDN'T want is for it to sound like rice. I live in San Diego and we have a TON of ghetto Hondas and wana-b honda "race" cars and they all sound like poop. It's rare to hear or see one thats well built.
My parents & 2 of my sisters live in San Diego too. I think the ricers are everywhere. Lots of them probably don't know that putting a big fat exhaust to their small Hondas can lose some TQ.

I have talked to Jeff and he's very sorry that his staff made a mistake in packaging the parts. He will send replacement clamps to my customers that have reported the issue to me. Thanks Dustin

Jeff at IE is taking action based on your feedback about the tips. The next gen IE Catback will have an all NEW tip setup for a cleaner Bling look!
We Thank each of you for buying our products and giving us feedback to make them better.
While I do not have an ETA on the new tips, they are in the works and once they are ready to ship I'll post them here. For those of you with the current setup it's an easy mod at any muffler shop to add any tip you like. Thanks again for the feedback.

Crap. Am I going to have an issue??
I finally got my car back and I plan to install the IE exhaust tomorrow. I did the 1 ball mod months ago and since the pass side muffler was removed and discarded I dont have the hanger for that side. I was just looking at install pics and realized that the IE hangs on the pass side. Crap.. I know I dont have the hanger part that was taken off when I did the 1 ball.. Will the IE still go in place? It's late and I cant go look under the car.
If so I think my buddy will take my 1 ball and I can just get his hanger.. I hope.. Anyone run into this problem?? Please post or PM me about it. I want to install it tomorrow and dont want issues.
Thanks NAM!

I figured out that I could use the rubber hanger from the one ball side of the stock system.
Got the exhaust installed today. The install was easy. I bought longer bolts for the cat flange but ended up being a tad too fat so I just pounded out the stock bolts carefully. Everything lined up on in the front but the rear muffler seems a bit off. I tried to adjust it as much as I could. I was soper hot and tired because it's like 88 in San Diego this weekend and I installed my IE sway bar first. (I am going to be sore tomorrow..)
So I tried to adjust the muffler as I could. I still had to trim a bit of the rear valance. Nothing you could see so it's no big deal. The heat shield was also touching the muffler.
The tips are poop. No matter how I tried to adjust them they still are about 1 1/2 to 2 inches too long (sticking out of the valance) and they are crooked. I looked in the "2nd" tip and it looked bad how they "carved" out a hole for that tip to be there. I dont know weather I will try to adjust everything again or go to a shop and have them do it.
I took it for a long spirited drive after the install. It was rattling just a bit. Took the highway for a mile and then up a big twisty grade. Got home and I could small plastic melting. Looked under and either the exhaust moved a bit or the bumper did. Anyways and valance was touching the muffler again and was melted.
That muffler gets SO HOT!!! I had to put on gloved and wrap a shop towel around my fingers just to try to push the heat shield and muffler back.. I also had to trip the valance again.
I was planing on painting the fenders and bumpers but if I cant get everything adjusted I think it would be too hot for the paint.
I installed it my self with no help. It wasn't super hard but if I could do it all over I would pay a shop to do it. It sucked to lay under the car and do that all myself.
The sound is cool. Seems when it gets to a really high RPM there is a whistle sound. I think thats from the poor tips that are on it. (I hope) I made sure all the connections were tight. I think when I get the new tips I will have them check the rest of the system for small leaks. The band lamps seemed to seal everything up well tho..
I think I will give it a 6/10. I was really not happy with melted plastic smell from the valance. The tips are bad. They didn't include the bolts to mount it to the flange.
It's a nice system but I think if they did something about the tips, include ALL the nuts and bolts and clamps it would be great.

I am planning to put washers between the rubber bushings & body of the car to bring it down a bit. That is the reason why I have to point the tips slightly downward so as not to touch the plastic trim. I hope that the spacer (washers) will fix it.
My tips aren't touching. It's the muffler itself. I had to trim more than I would like from the valance. You cant see it but I would like to have a shop tweek it so I can get a new valance and have it painted sometime soon.
It was well worth the cash. I would definately get another one. Next time I would just have it installed at a shop.

Push the muffler assembly a bit more forward. I have about an inch clearance between muffler and back plastic trim. I know it is tight and if I remember the shopman has to put lots of effort to it.
After breaking in, let us know how do you like the sound.

It sounds great. It's definately louder than the one ball but not in a harsh way. It doesn't drone at all so far. Someone said there system sounded like a tin tornado coming out the back. When I really got on it and redlined the car I had a whistle sound. I dont think there is a leak anywhere. I assume its from the tips. They take a tube and put a bend in it. And right where the bend is they kinda hack away a hole and then weld another tube so it's "dual" tips. Well looking inside this 2id tip I can see that they didn't make the hole perfect. I dont know if thats whats making the sound or what.. I am not unhappy with everything. I just wish the tips were a bit better and I wish I didn't have to trim the vallance. I pushed everything back as far as I could. I think it's just something that a muffler shop would easily take care of.

So, how come this one doesn't have the "tin tornado" sound? Does it come out only on heavy load?
Nice sound.
Ya under load, shifting it at high RPM there is a whistle sound. I think it could either be the tips, the sound of the exhause exiting so much quicker then stock, or it might be the intake. The better flow of the exhaust the better flow of the intake.
My tips stick out that far. I was going to trim them down but it was just so hot and I was so tired the other day.. Will cut them back soon.

The fiberglass packing can shift due to pressure. I asked the same question to one of the guys here in Vancouver,BC who has an MG with a V8 Ford 5.0L and he claimed the same sound change with his Borla exhaust. My answer above actually came from him. I have heard from fellow NAMers about exhaust sound getting better whether R53 or R56 as it's broken in and having experienced that, I can second the motion.

(Of course the packing may shift in ways that make the sound less desireable in some instances, I guess.
