i agree with that mate. just thought about how far the R53 guys are pushing their cars. it would be nice to see some BIG HP R56s to.

there is always a way to get more fuel in there!

Chris.

In time. APR has a big fuel pump for FSI cars and I know a place to get some injectors. Controlling it is a PITA but in time we'll be alright. I think 300whp is attainable on the stock fuel setup. After that, who knows.

I don't speak english, so I hope you understand me.

When you increase the power of your car, you must have a bigger pulse widh, the ammount of fuel that is injected depends of the size of the inyector and the fuel pression. But you can't exceede.

Fuel delivery is obtained by pulsing the injectors synchronised with the engine speed, allowing fuel to flow during the period that the injector is open. The time while open is called the injector pulse width. As engine speed increases it is possible for pulse widths to overlap so that the injectors are effectively switched completely on. This is referred to as 100% duty cycle.
When 100% duty cycle is reached the fuel flow from the injectors has reached its maximum. Increasing revs brings with it the danger of an engine lean out.

The tables and graph below show the point at which the injectors will reach 100% duty cycle. It is not common for this to happen but the potential for damage under these circumstances is strong so care should be taken to check this factor.

Maximum Injection Time (in milliseconds[ms])

(120,000 x IgnDivideBy)
Rpm x No. Cylinders)

eg. Maximum injection time for a four cylinder, on ign/by 2 red-lining at 6000 RPM is

(120,000 x 2)/(6000 x 4) = 10,

I hope you understand the point !!

Hey folks! I am happy to discuss the fuel pumps etc. but can we do it outside the ALTA Q&A?

Not trying to be a Turkey!

Thank you!

May have asked this already, but how much hp and torque do you think the stock clutch can handle?....also, on the ecu, you guys will label the selector switch so we know which map is the stock one and which one is the Alta tuned one for our mods?....plus, is the map selector switch the only thing that routes through the firewall into the cabin?...thanks!

While you're on the subject, what's the R56 MCS flywheel like ? dual mass ?
any plans for a lightweight flywheel & clutch kit in the works ?

It will be up to each client. Do they want a stock and ALTA or a ALTA 91 and ALTA 93 etc. etc. We will inform you which position is what yes.

Stock clutch in our mules has been VERY a-ok in the upper 200's.

And just to let a bit of the cat out of the bag. We should have dyno numbers on the turbo kit early next week! It is on and rolling as we speak!

Thanks again folks!

I hate weekends

Alta doesn't seem to post anything or answer e-mails on weekends. I guess you think you should be closed. Come on guys. You'll have time for a life after retirement! You know our passion doesn't stop on Fridays at 6pm!
What if I wake up at 3am on a Sunday in a cold sweat and need to spend some $$?

edit:

I just noticed Adam made a post in another thread today just a few minutes ago (sunday)!

Hey what the H -e- double hockey sticks! I was on here this weekend, including friday! (Did you miss the BLACK FRIDAY sale.) BUT I admit I don't answer e-mail. MY COMPLETE APOLOGIES

We DID get the MINI running on the new turbo, but we need more coolant (spilled a bit on the floor during the interchange) and will get back to it this week.

Thanks again guys and gals! Look forward to chatting more this week!

I had the same concern and I ended up tapping the manifold (VERY Easy.) We are working on a nice standoff for the MAP sensor, but it may be pricier than I want (again not made in China so....) but we will keep working on it as a service part vs. profit part.

Sorry for the delayed answer.

Thanks again folks!

No question, just stating that I have decided to drive around with my back seats down, and there's a surprising increase in sound from my turbo back exhaust that is just friggin AWESOME....lets just say the back seats will be staying down for a very long time!!!

Hey Adam! I know this has been asked before but I can't find it here on NAM... How often do you recommend cleaning the CAI using the filter cleaning kit?
THANKS

I was wondering just how loud the Alta Exhaust is. It sounds great from the vidoes, but how loud is it in the cabin? It is bearable for 8 hr trips to Mammoth to go snowboarding? =) Does it mask the Alta Intake sound? Will I have to blast my music just to hear it? My friend has a honda and I just cannot sit in his car for more than 10 min because its too loud in the cabin, it's much better outside though. But he says its one of the quieter ones that are out for hondas.

So yeah, I hear lots of people saying its just perfect, but can someone give me a comparison?

I have the turbo back exhaust, and I'd have to say it's pretty much perfect as well...it's loud when I want to be and mellow when it should be, like while cruising; and since I have the turbo back, the cat back will be even quieter. And it doesn't mask the sound of my intake...you can hear both the intake and exhaust...a very nice combo!!

I have the Alta cat-back on mine, and I thought it was going to be much louder then it is( after listening to the video clip). The car may be slightly louder inside, but more a lower tone then actually louder. Certainly not offensive in anyway. And, as Scott said, you can still hear the air intake loud and clear. Go for it. You will not be disapointed( and you'll love the extra power iit gives the car )

Very very nice. Thanks for the fast response. So ima assume my annual trips to mammoth are gonna be fine. =)
