Hmmmm, I can only find the 'stage 1' kit which comes with air filter + exhaust = 15hp.

Okay thanks, found it. No doubt at all that ALTA is better; just can't help checking out the competition.

Now we know the Mini Mania increases 30% HP and Torque with an ECU, Air Intake and Exhaust. and just the Intake and Exhaust is 15HP. I would like to know how much ALTA gets with just the Intake and Turbo Back Exhaust.

Alta has those results in their "Alta test and tune" thread in this section....hard to believe the 30% gains without really any description or dyno charts, or anything...either the gains aren't true, or it shows how much the ecu tune is worth....I know once Alta releases their ecu tune, it's gonna put out some pretty serious power; I bet highest hp with stock turbo.

Almost as hard to believe as installing a swaybar in 10 minutes.

....I didn't count taking back wheels off and putting car up on lift, which is only a few minutes anyway.....so my car on the lift as I was doing all the suspension, and yes it took like 10min to swap rear sway bars...why should it take long...just lowered the subframe enough to clear the sway bars' diameter and then put the new one in....the rear bar is straight, so you don't have to do a bunch of twisting to get it out....attach sway bar to subframe, and then reattach upper sway bar endlink bolt...done.

Good Question:

How will 4 gauges work with the pod setup, this I have to see in your setup?

Lots of pictures, please. Thanks.
I plan on putting the Water Temp and Boost up by the tach, and then oil temp and EGT under the switch panel. (The later is NOT using our new pods.) But I may change it up. I have been a bit under the weather the past day or so, so I got the sensors all mounted, but need to complete the wiring to then light things up and show the clients how this will all work. Thanks for your patience!

I completed the installation last night. Trying to edit photos etc to use for instructions, as well as verify wiring connections. Sorry as always for the delay!

Is getting the Alta BOV to replace the oem BOV a necessary thing to do or recommended, that I do that with my current mods and once I get the upcoming ecu tune?

It will become FAR more important once the boost level is raised and maintained as the OEM unit will only vent a fixed amount of pressure and air.

Thanks for asking!

So it's not necessary, but recommended?

coming from the vw fsi world the diverter valves sometimes crap out at high boost. When the boost starts upping we'll see if they leak. If so a block off plate and bov will do the trick.

scott48: It comes down to volume of air expelled, not volume in terms of sound. The OEM valve is only designed to vent up to x amount. We are now putting y amount through the motor and valve. As such it isn't able to remove the amount of air needed. Also, the ECU uses the valve to regulate boost. When we remove that ability, we need to have another valve elsewhere.

Hope that helps?!

That all makes sense, but so when I get the ecu tune, will I need to get the Alta BOV, or can the new ecu tune work with the oem BOV?

Ok, that's cool that you guys made the ecu tune to work with either the oem BOV or the upgraded BOV, so it leaves us with some options

Was looking at my engine and noticed that the intake tube (?) doesn't look fully seated. Does this look right to you? Lip showing at center of photo. Since Alta makes replacements, thought this would be the thread to ask.

Thanks,

yep, can see the pic when I click the link. I was going to host and post it for you but it is over 2meg in size.

Gimme a couple minutes and I'll resize and post it.

edit: yours is NOT seated fully although it may not be leaking.

back to your regularly scheduled thread...
