Drivetrain Official ALTA™ Q&A thread PART TWO 2nd Generation MINI
I know I know::::
Have them on my desk. Need to take em home and write a how-to etc. Debating between EGT/ Boost or Oil Temp / Boost. Any ideas guys? adam@altaminiperformance.com
So with the inlet hose going from the turbo to the intake will I lose that wonderful "wush"/"psssssh" sound from my intake?
Am I right to assume that it would take the BOV stuff and send it back through the turbo?
As you can tell I'm super novice about this kinda stuff.
I think I will give the Boost tubes a whirl as my next upgrade

The inlet hose goes from the turbo to the intake system. The boost tubes replace the intercooler boost tube muffler thingy and the hoses the connect to the intercooler and throttle body. (I think I may have pointed to both on Howard last weekend. Sorry if I goofed.) You may be able to install them yourself, without having to have GPi do it. Let me know if I can answer any questions though! Thanks for asking! adam@altaminiperformance.com
BUT: yours may have already shipped to your dealer. You need to check with them. I will have more early next week according to the polisher.
Sorry for the delay!

For installation in PA we chould pole Candyman here (where are you?) They are an authorized reseller and sell to what would be local dealers to you. He can also be reached at chris@jscspeed.com
Second: Coming soon! There were gains, but no dyno charts at the time the part was released. Now we have some and ALTA2 is cleaning them up. There is a slight change in noise, but I have had these on Howard for a few months and I haven't noticed any change at cruise etc. It is NOT purely cosmetic as earlier thought.
Finally: The diverter will keep airflow going through the core proerly. Thus increasing its efficiency. While hard to show in a dyno plot on a stationary vehicle, but the FMIC will be working more efficiently.
Hope that helps! Let me know how I can ever help further!

I've got several places I'd reccomend in the Philly area,
Helix is definately a great choice as they are Mini experts and located right in Philly; but they don't carry Alta so you'd have to bring your Alta parts down there. I know where you can get the Alta parts to bring down there
Up north, R/T Tuning in Landsdale PA (up Rte. 309) is very good - we used them for alot of tuning and engine work. They're familiar w/ Minis too since we keep bring ours in over there for dynoing.
I've got some more I can reccomend based on geography and location.

I'm planning on ordering the parts online anyway, so no worry if the installation shop doesn't carry ALTA parts. I may be purchasing from JSC speed actually... We'll see!
Thanks to both you and jascooper for the recommendations - Helix it is! Unless of course you know of a place closer to my area (Lancaster). Lansdale is almost an hour further away from me then Philly is. Also I have a really good friend at Penn so I could just chill with her while waiting for the parts on my baby to be installed.

We'll see!I've been having trouble getting anywhere on their website for the last couple of days. I get the message 'unable to select database'. Shop around first because JSC has a price match guarantee on most (if not all) parts. This page you can get to and has a lot of info you want to see:
http://www.jscspeed.com/rides/projec...oject_mini.htm
You might also check for BMW shops in your area, as they often have some experience with MINI's, and have talented techs to satisfy fussy Beemerphiles.

I've never been to Helix, but their reputation is top notch. Eric is your man over there. JSCSpeed is over near Mongomeryville Mall. It's really just a warehouse in an industrial park. Get real good directions from them, as it's a tough place to find. Keep an eye out for Candyman's Astro Black R56. I'm hoping he'll take me for a spin in his Alta loaded ride some time. Hint, hint Chris...

Hey ALTA,
Just wanted to say I ordered your CAI (and I can't wait to get it!) About how long should I expect it to take to get here? There was nothing about whether it is in stock or not. I hope it ships soon!!!
;( I just found out it's back-ordered!!! Hope its back in stock soon...

Have them on my desk. Need to take em home and write a how-to etc. Debating between EGT/ Boost or Oil Temp / Boost. Any ideas guys? adam@altaminiperformance.com
....by the way, are you guys gonna offer just a single gauge package, or is it just easier/better to get two?
Just give us a call, we're doing server hardware upgrades to support our new, 100% live website. 215-643-5750. Ask for Kyle and he will give you a good deal.
It depends:
THANK YOU for your business it is truly appreciated!

Hey Adam, can we get those new dyno #s from the mule?
And also, how about package deals? Like intake/inlet tube/boost tubes/intercooler for example. Or something. Food for thought
Im so excited to see the numbers!

+1 to that; can't wait to see how much power is being put out!
We have a discounted "package" planned, and then also single gauges as well. Stay tuned and again sorry for the delay! adam@altaminiperformance.com

OIL PRESSURE, water temp, Please
..PS, didn't mean to shout
Thankfully, all of your gauge options will be available. Still finalizing the details. I started on the gauge installation and write up last night in my personal car. I am doing, water temp, boost right away, then EGT and Oil Temp in short order.
I will poke again about the dyno numbers. I saw Jeff yesterday prettying the charts for publishing.
Thanks again folks!

The answer depends on which one. The Water Temp and Boost are a breeze. The EGT requires a bit more work. I may be moving like mole-asses, but I promise I will get the write up to you guys and gals asap. Plus I have kits I could sell if I was just done !
Chat soon my friends!

Adam,
Yes the water temp and oil pressure combo is high on my list since I'm so old school.
How will 4 gauges work with the pod setup, this I have to see in your setup?
Lots of pictures, please. Thanks.
