It's warmed up to 45 today. Supposed to be about 40 this weekend. I think I'll be able to wash both cars with the garage door open and use the hose this time!

I'm pulling stripes & badges this weekend and putting my summer tires on in prep for AMVIV. Changed oil last weekend. I will probably fill chips, clay & polish next weekend, but won't wax before I get the new stripes on (Thursday 27 March 4:00 PM). Then after AMVIV I guess I will fill new chips then do a light re-polish the next weekend and wax.

Good luck at the car show Blimey (and Paul too)!

Summer has been here in SoCal for a few months now, lol...jk. But since I've been spending so much time prepping for AMVIV, I'll be doing a complete inside and out detail on my MINI as soon as it gets out of the spray booth. It is such a mess right now, so I'll be so relieved once this saga is over.

Oh it's just taken nearly a year to get my exterior repainted from the first fiasco, and since then I've been adding to the list of things I wanted, including the interior bits. I waited until a spot came up on the rotation to do the painting--so I pulled everything apart, and then due to scheduling stuff, ending up going nearly a month without a dash or interior..it's just the life of working in a shop that gives priority to customers and not those that work there, lol. Nothing big, just venting.

Ken, BW is more like red than orange isn't it?? That's my new color scheme--red and black, lol.

Destriped the MINI today:

Kind of looks naked. And look - ghost stripes.

And look - swirls on the boot

I'll have to work on those this weekend. And look - New rear window (new top = new window = lost stickers)

Did I mention ghost stripes?

Poco has some minor swirls that I need to get rid of. Not as bad as yours though MiniMaybee.

That's because your lovely wife drinks/spills about 20 Starbucks a week in the Cabrio. She keeps her niece in business!

Chuck - yep, cabrio boot swirls SUCK - that sucker will get mega swirly no matter how good your washing/detailing habits are - when I drive with the top down all the time, the rear window (folded up inside) get's COVERED with abrasive dust that gets sucked in there by the "vortex"... and all that stuff get constantly swirl across the boot by the wind... Grrrr...

I know how much everyone complains about how dirty the back of any MINI gets - but I think the cabrio is in it's own league...

Just polished mine out last night - usually I only have to Swirl the boot a few passes - I can usually just Amigo everything else...

Richard - looks fantastic...

I'd like to thank Ken, and Mark, and Richard, and Chris, and Chuck, and Heather for teaching me so much in the last 18 months... thanks to your help (and a bit of work and many $$$ spent by me) I won Best Foreign Car today in Blimey's first car show!!!

I'll post pics and a writeup later on my blog - but couldn't wait to share the news and THANK YOU folks for helping make it happen. I got lots of kudos from other car owners on detailing, paint polish, style, theme, etc, and I didn't know squat about any of that until I started hanging out with you folks.

Yay, congrats Paul!!

I wish the weather would decide what it's going to do. One second it's sunny, the next it's sprinkling. I can't detail in EITHER, I need it to cloud over and stay that way!
