i think i'll just get the real ones for summer and use its own knock-off's in
the winter? i can probably fix that blemish though... if i had the time.

1000 to 1500grit wetsand until polished, wenol until mirror finish, mask and
re-spray clearcoat.

strike that to 400grit first, then 1000-1500grit. wenol at the end, then
re-clearcoat the lips.

since the spokes are fine i think im going to take the time to fix it. i like
the gunmetal spokes it has, plus only $12 to fix all 4... i'll use that money
to get new wheels for my MCS. i still think 16's look better on
the MCS.

This really belongs in the Random Thoughts thread, but it just came to me to ask this question for some reason...

Has anyone here every felt like they were talking to themselves, even in a crowded room (or message board) ?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASY !!!

Just gotta make sure you have those suckers lined up right before you peel the backing off and then slowwwwwwwly work your way from the center to one end. Then take the backing off the other half and repeat.

presto. done.

aha! center to the end, and center to the end. ok, that kinda makes
sense...but you dont get to mess up so it's a hit or miss, right?

kinda scary...

Yeah, that's why it's really important to have them positioned exactly right before you peel off the backing and begin pressing it down.

A precise, OCD guy like you, nooooooo problem ! Just double measure and then double measure it again.

Going to MOTD this year ? We can put some new stripes on your MINI while we're there !!

by the time im done double measuring my double measure, would
i be done with my wet application?

what do you use to press it down? cant image you just use your fingers?
doesn't that scratch the vinyl if your finger is dry?

MOTD, probably not. if it was closer i would go. if i had a week to spend
i would like to be in LA, actually. my other home town.

No, it doesn't take THAT long to measure and double measure and measure again ! The prep is maybe 10 minutes and install is another 10 minutes.

You've ordered stripes from one of the aftermarket vendors before, right ? Didn't you got one of those little blue sqeegee things ? That's what I use.

No road trip to MOTD ? Bummer ! Gotta go one of these years, ken !!

yah, the soft squeegee, ok. i have a few different hardnesses. but i had
to wrap it in soft cotton cloth on my original dealer stripes...otherwise it
would scratch (haze) them.

i will go to MOTD someday. the thing is, i was going to take my
son out to legoland (SD) this year but he got a little brother last year so it
does not look like he's going.

is there a museum at the catapillar in IL? anyone know? he loves
heavy construction equipment. was thinking about taking him
there this summer.

actually i found better ramps online (more money, so will buy on my
own later on when it gets warmer) so she's getting me the Griot's
heatgun and the pads for the jackstands i already have.

here's the Race-R ramps ill be getting this spring, just in time to
do maintenance on my MCS and G.
