For anyone driving down Friday and spending the whole weekend here Steely Dan is in concert at the Portsmouth Amphitheater Friday night. I believe there are seats still available and as always the lawn tickets are still available.

Travis Tritt is giving a Free Concert at the Amphibious Base on Friday Night.

Los Lonely Boys are at HarborFest in Norfolk on Friday evening as well for Free.

Just some info for you visiting folks.

For anyone without hotel reservations, I will be opening our 3 bedroom condo to Mini (and mini) folks who want to attend but don't have a place to stay.
The condo is located about 4 miles from the sportsplex.
The downside is that people will have to clean up after themselves, as we haven't scheduled maid service for this weekend.
The upside is that I'm not going to charge for the lodging.
Anyone interested will have to call me at 757-403-3472 before noon on Saturday.

Oh yeah!! I forgot to mention, at the Hilton Garden Inn, there's a parking lot right in front of the hotel, and a parking garage across the street. I personally don't like parking in unprotected, public parking garages (got my MINI broken into second day of ownership parking in one... grr). But most of the spots in front are reserved for a bank and an office building, and there's signs saying as much and threatening towing.

What the signs don't mention very well is that after 5 PM until sometime in the morning, you're perfectly ok parking pretty much anywhere you want! I got that gem of info from the front desk clerk, and sure enough, I had no problems parking there every day for three weeks during the 'allowed' hours.

I mention this to save anyone from parking needlessly in a parking garage, and also, it'd be kinda neat seeing the front lot being taken over by MINIs!

No problem.
It's a weekly beach rental that passed to me from my sister. It wasn't rented for this week, so it might as well get used in a good cause.

I just want to know what the plan is for the weekend. If anyone is leaving on Friday night/ Saturday morning, please call me @ 443-928-4853. Thanks a bunch!!!!

For those of you staying in Williamsburg, don't wait till the last minute to come to VA Beach. The traffic between Williamsburg through the Hampton Bridge Tunnel can be a night mare. A couple of hours is not uncommon this time of year. It is better to sit on the Norfolk/VaB side of the Tunnel and relax/eat rather than be tied up on the Williamsburg side of the tunnel and miss the run.

We'll be heading down to Suffolk VA Saturday morning. If any MINIs are heading South in that time frame, let me know, maybe we can put together an ad hoc caravan

Ooo!! Sally (ssallykat) and I are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn too! We're leaving Saturday morning, but we don't know when yet. Depends on how we both feel in the morning. (We're going to the Tool concert up in Baltimore tonight! ) Alan, I got your number, either Sally or me will be in contact!

Ok I am at work and can not read through all two thousand pages - well maybe 15 - of entries so please forgive me if my questions are covered. I just found out that I can make this trip for sure. Got some work to do Saturday so if you can please answer me these:

1. Is there an address I can place in my GPS for the event start? I looked at the first page on the NAM event page and did not see it.

2. I have kinda been watching the thread as I have wanted to go, but only today got clearance for a free Sunday from work. I plan to depart Saturday eve IF there is room at a near by hotel. I would like to hang with some DCMM folks and get re interduced. I'll read through the thread tonight when I get home and try to hit ones as they come up but looking for help from other latecomers that have already invented this wheel. Any ideas where to call first?

3. for those I do not see there (hoping there are a bunch of people) I demand that you have a good time.

Motor happily all
John

John, it looks like that the Hilton Garden Inn VA Beach Town Center still has room available! You'll run into at least a couple DCMMers, as well as folks from other clubs!

Oh cool... I went to the Tool show in Richmond last night. You're going to have a blast. The combination of the visuals and the music together is awesome. I love that the band doesn't focus on themselves very much (on-stage)... the focus is on the experience - music & visuals combined. They even have the stage in plain white so they can project onto it... even the roadies wear white lab coats!

My ears may still be ringing but I have a big smile on my face. Enjoy!

Tool rawks... my #2 favorite band (after Nine Inch Nails).

Sorry for the threadjack.

Just like the other response there are still rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn at Town Center and there are apparently DCMMers already staying there. Here is the address and number:

Hilton Garden Inn Town Center

3. for those I do not see there (hoping there are a bunch of people) I demand that you have a good time.

Good time will be had by all I am sure. We are hoping for 300 MINIs!

PenelopeCooper and Scavenger, I would LOVE to drive down with you. I have to drop my puppy off at my parents in the AM, so I will contact you and see if I can make something work.
