[Sun, June 10] VA Beach WORLD RECORD/NAVY SEAL BENEFIT
Hi Guys,
Thanks to all. Without the great showing from DCMMs this would never have flown. Loved the clings also, thanks for those. Great touch. Our Official was 273. Even though she did find her keys and attempt to do the run the Judges could not allow her to count.but at least she tried.
Randy and I will be gathering everything together later in the week to make copies of everything and send all the paperwork off to Guinness. Not quite sure how long their process is but as soon as we get the Certificate we'll be sure to make copies for distribution.
Krut. My skin is crispy too from the sun also. Outside with no hat and a bald head from 9am-sundown...........ouuch. I've pmed you with details for the press release. hopefully you got it. let me know.
Again, great job guys and I look forward to a trip up to DC.

We're just north of annapolis and about 40 mins(no traffic) from DC or 20 mins (nt, again) from the metro..Whenever y'all want to come up, just let us (DCMM) know... it'd be just another excuse to party...
Yeah, you guys need to come up and visit! I know we can make an excuse to get together!
And yes, Katie's guest room is VERY nice. I crashed there one morning after work while my car was being worked on.
Thanks again for putting this together, we all really enjoyed it! and how exciting is it that we broke the record!

Jefflaw...I'm from Southern Jersey too! Did I speak to you on Sunday or were you the Jersey car that was hiding out? It was my first time out too, and I look forward to going back again next year. I know 3 other mini owners, maybe we can get a little convoy going down to VA next year!

Were you the person I met from Burlington County? (Westampton?)
I'm from Woodbury & work in Cherry Hill.
My wife isn't a car person & since I bought our MINI in Mid-Feb., hasn't been overly enthused about my MINI obsession, so it was quite a surprise that she really got into the whole event. She loved looking at the different colors & configurations of everyone's cars, plus meeting all the owners. She already is talking about doing it again. It we be great if we could a convoy toether to go down.

I took a lot of pictures. I am loading just about all of them on smugmug.

the loading is still going on as I post this note. At the start I have an index of sorts. Near the end I was standing in the roadway taking pictures of people as they came in. You should be able to download your picture or order a print. The files are a bit on the large side.

Err, thanks for the envite but I will pass for now. I took over a 1k pictures. I will only down load them once. The computer at home has been running for more than 18 hours (and I have DSL not dialup) to get to where I am now. Another problem I have with flickr is the site likes smaller res pictures. In my batch there are a bunch poor photos that normally I would not put up. However with this batch I tried to at least one picture of each car. A full size photo can be cropped into a nice 5x6 if someone wants a pic of their car that the event. Smugmug well let them do that. Also you, or another person, do not have to sign up to look at the pics, I did that when I joined.
There are some good pics of you guys and one of your dogs in the first batch. Another of the brown dog being loved by some kids.

Jefflaw:
I'm from the AC region, I live in Hammonton. How long did it take you to get home? I traveled up Rt. 13, it took me just over 6 hours. I work for the state and we have 2 other Mini owners in Trenton and my husband actually talked up my Mini so much at his work that a buddy of his went out and bought one 2 days later. It would be great if the next event we could get a bunch of us to go down as a convoy. My husband really wanted to go but he had drill so he couldn't make it...next time!

Question - I seem to recall there being a link to an online video of a news story on the event. This was before the event, talking about it... shot at Checkered Flag MINI, I believe. From one of the local news stations (probably 13).
For the life of me I can't find the link to that video again. Does anyone have it?
Edit: Never mind, found it!
