My MCS is waiting for ship.

I ordered my MCS for 7 weeks ago. Today it has been completed and aleady to ship...... yeah yeah. 3 weeks later I will get my baby.......

I have a question. MCS built in England. why the VIN is start from "WMWM...."
W support to be for German's cars. because MINI is part of BMW that's why the VIN start from "W".???? for example, most of the Carmy built in the US and the VIN start from 1 which mean The US. but it is a japanese's car.... why it can't start from "J"

Congrats on your new MCS, but I am confused about your question... Didn't you answer your own question about BMW???

As I read your post, you answer your question and than you ask about a Japanese made Toyota Camry's VIN starting with a "J" and why doesn't start with a "J".

From the wikipedia article about VINs:
The first three characters uniquely identify the manufacturer of the vehicle using the World Manufacturer Identifier or WMI code.
The first character of the WMI is the region in which the manufacturer is located.
See how it says the regions the manufacturer is located. Usually that's the same as the country the car is actually made. However in this case it isn't, the WMI assigned to MINI from the SAE is WMW.

You mention Toyota as not having a a code that originates from Japan. Well, that's probably because Toyota has 8 different WMI codes (one of which being 4T which points to the US as the region of the manufacturer).

If you want to read the article yourself it's located here

Kalk,

I know you are excited to pick it up and will be counting the days, watching the ship, but here are a few off topic tips as a fellow recent new father:

Start thinking about the tire/wheel insurance NOW.

This was a total surprise to me when I arrived at the dealer to pick up my car. They offered Lifetime Wheel and Tire insurance for something like ~$1100. And it was buy it now or never. No 30 day grace period, nothing. I was a little pissed off that they would do that (felt a little like a high pressure hostage situation) that I rejected it just out of principle. Now, everytime I hit a pothole on the beltway, I think about it and kick myself a little.

If you ordered the Voice Command, check it BEFORE you drive off. If you have the multipurpose steering wheel with the voice command feature, tell your MA that they should check it before even calling you that it is ready. My vehicle is close to 2 months old and the VC is still not fixed. Then again, may not be a big deal to you.

Hope that helps!
