Shaun and I plan on going down (in seperate MINIs) sometime Saturday. I live in Laurel, so maybe we could meet up there somewhere?

Where is everyone staying? We still haven't settled on a hotel. Recommendations?

Lordy! Don't wait a second longer to get a room! Otherwise you might not get one or you'll stay in a less than decent place.

We're staying on the beach, so we're paying through the nose, but it's a b-day present.
Call the place mentioned in the above link today!

May only be taking one MINI down for this trip, but I will see how things go towards the end of the week.

My office schedule has been all sorts of wacky lately , and I'm planning to move this month, so I've been pretty scatterbrained lately. :impatient I wasn't sure I'd be able to go, but recently decided... hey... I've earned a mini MINI vacation, and dammit - I'm going!

GREAT NEWS for those fellow procrastinators! The Hilton Garden Inn is STILL TAKING RESERVATIONS! I just got confirmation of my reservation, and at a reasonable rate, too! ($159/night + tax!) I'll see you there!

Anyone read about this little party going on at Silverstone this weekend?
More than 300 Ferrari cars are anticipated to attend Ferrari's attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the "Largest Parade of Ferrari Cars" at Silverstone on Saturday 9 June.
Atleast they are going for "Parade of Ferrari Cars" not "Parade of Cars"

Okay so now you know that I'm bald. Good look at the Shirts though. When you arrive at the Sports Plex look for the guys in the Kilts. That'll be us looking frazzled. Looking forward to this.

Thanks for all your support. See you on Sunday if not before.

can you recommend a do-it-yourself carwash in the area? my car's lowered, so automatic carwashes are out of the question.

I'm making a wild guess that Shuckers is a raw bar? Was planning on spending SAT night in Williamsburg (have a meeting there in the afternooon) and driving down Sunday morning... Anywho, I'm deathly allergic to shellfish, etc. Sounds like fun, but wouldn't want to get jacked up on my Epi-Pen and Benedry and miss the event on Sunday!

There are several "Laser Wash" DIY places in the area...the most convenient one that I can think of is located at the intersection of Battlefield Blvd South and I-64 in Chesapeake, just outside the Virginia Beach city limits.

There are Touchless Washes and DIY stalls at the following locations in Virginia Beach:

http://www.freedom-wash.com/ the location on South Independence Blvd is just 2-3 miles from the Amphitheater SportsPlex and 2-3 miles from the Town Center Hilton Garden Inn.

and here for the folks staying at Fort Story and Dam Neck:

Malbon Brothers Citgo
1896 General Booth Blvd
Virginia Beach, VA 23454
757-427-9607

and for the folks at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront there is a car wash that is located up from the 17th Street Surf shop but I couldn't find a listing for it on the web.

Hope this helps! Shine em up it is supposed to be a beautiful and warm weekend! = glassdarkly
