[Sun, June 10] VA Beach WORLD RECORD/NAVY SEAL BENEFIT
My scalp is burnt to a crisp, my arms are toasty red and I'm in awe that we were able to pull it off! I believe the official count is 273 - but I'm sure that Simon will fill us in soon.
Thank you everyone that made the effort to come from hither and nither and a special Thank You to Simon and Randy for doing a stellar job with organizing the event - (and thanks for putting up with my RedBull induced megaphone antics)!

Guiness and Kodie were very cute. Especially Kodie. I would love to introduce Kodie to my shiba, Zuki
A HUGE Congrats to all of you! Wowza - what fun...wish we could have made the trip back there to attend...
I'm having a blast looking at all the pictures...

THis was posted on the Hampton Roads Mini forum:
" Final GWR tally was 274 MINI/Minis. The tie breaker MINI #270 lost their keys and were DQ'd even though they finally found their keys and still made the loop. The 6 MINIs from NY and CT were 45 minutes late and didn't make the run. So my unofficial count of total MINIs for today was 280 MINI/Minis...."

WoW!
One of my favorite parts was seeing the traffic stopped by police looking quite impatient as I passed... and I was car #91! You have a long wait there buddy... you have no idea!!
I was told that the last of the cars was leaving the parking lot as the first was returning.... that's a continuous 5 mile line of Minis!!
Big thanks to EVERYONE that participated. I know it took effort on every single one of our parts to get as many mini's there! Special thanks to Simon and Randy from Seven Cities Mini's... you guys did a fantastic job making it a smooth and easy event.

They didn't sound like your typical classic either. They had a bit more of a roar to them. There was a green classic there that must have been still undergoing restoration because it was covered with bondo/primer. But it had a roll cage in it. As we were leaving there was a viper to the left of it at a light, the viper revved, the Mini ROARED! You guys should have seen the look on the Vipers face when the classic screamed so loud.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it. Since I had this whole weekend off, I have to work through the next one thu-sun! But, if you are going to Mark's BBQ, I would love to see them then!
Greetings All Participants in the GWR
Arrived home in South Jersey a couple hours ago. This was our first MINI event (Plus the first road-trip for our MINI) & we had a blast! Already planning on returning next year (if for no other reason then to use the gift certificate from Conklins). It was great to meet so many interesting people. Thanks to all.

well what a major hoot!! And we broke the record...too bad the NY and CT were late, the record would be that much harder to break.
Unfortuantely, Paul and I were so pooped, we didn't watch Channel 13's coverage that night. I took a lonnnnng walk after dining with Jen, so I was knackered. Perhaps Simon has a link to the broadcast.
Can't wait til next year..hopefully everyone will be on time and no-one will lose their keys....
Yay to DCMM for such a turnout!
