Touring Britain in Virginia!
I'm thinking of putting a tour together that would take us on a route through a dozen or so towns named after UK towns. I'm looking at next Spring (2007)for this with a departure from FALMOUTH, VA on a Friday evening heading out on the Northern Neck for a Friday night stop. Then stopping again on Saturday night to be back at Falmouth by Sunday afternoon. Total travel distance would be estimated somewhere between 400 and 500 miles. Lots of stops along the way at interesting places to see/eat/etc. At this tentative planning stage --- anyone think they might be up for that?
Sounds like a good idea to me! When picking a date keep in mind a lot of folks will make a long trip to the Dragon in early May, if you do it too close to that it might cut into your attendance a bit.
If you don't already have it on your list, you should add Aldie. The British Pantry is out there. There's a shop behind the British Pantry that works on the Classic Minis. It'd be a kick to park next to the British telephone box!
Route
No, Aldie isn't part of the plan -- the route would take us through 12 - 15 towns that are named after (or share the same name) with a town/city/place in Great Britain. Hence -- Falmouth, Kinsale, Farnham, Lancaster, Kilmarnock, Gloucester, Isle of Wight, Windsor, Crewe, Somerset and back to Falmouth (With others along the way). Most of the drive would be on secondary roads. Plenty to see and do along the way.

This sounds like a great idea! I would so love to go! We have put a feeler out for an overnight trip, and, well this is fitting the bill! I know it is in the planning stages, and as it develops, please keep myself and Jay (JustJAY) notified and we can turn it into an event! Can't wait to hear more about it!
Sounds like a good idea. I wanted to put together a self-guided tour visiting European named cities where each person would have a passport and have to get it stamped by a local shop in each town.
Another angle to a British Tour could be a poker run.
Find a shop keeper in each town willing to play along.
This gives people a chance to get out of the car to stretch their legs and take a little stroll through town.
The shop keeper gives 2 random playing cards to each team.
At the end the person with the best hand wins.
