Which shocks do I want...

So I think I am ready to do shocks.
50,000 miles including several miles of dirt road washboard/rocks and a terrible paved road that all take me to work and home everyday.
I am on NM springs.
So my options are
1-Oem
2-Oem sport suspension version (my stock are non sport suspension)
3-Bilstein touring
4-Bilstein heavy duty

Right now I am on the fence between option 2 and 3. I am just not going to spend 400 a shock for the bilstein heavy duty. I would go to megan coilovers first.

Please give me any advice or observations or what you like or don't like!

A lot of guys, this one included, like the KONI FSD struts.
This link speaks for it's self as far as price goes and it's where I got mine:

I have heard good things about the sport suspension from others too and that it is night and day from the regular set up. Thanks for the input!

Is the bilstein B6 called bilstein Heavy duty in the USA? How does it compare to stock shock ups?

Then KONI better get off the pot and come up with some. The '60' crowd is missing out.

Yes, called B6 Heavy Duty. It's a bit more firm, but good for daily driving and occasional track days. Not Countryman specific, but lots of good reviews about the ride feel here.

Might not want to run FSDs on NM springs. They're really made for
stock height springs only.

Yeah, B4 = touring and B6 = heavy duty.
I like to to autocross but I just cant justify the $400 per front + $200 per rear shock for the heavy duty. Like I said, I would swap to coilovers for that price. Since I have already paid the money for the springs and install, I think I'll go with the touring/B4 or the oem sport shock. Right now i guess it will depend on price because there is probably not really a perfect comparison (nm springs + sport shock vs nm spring vs bilstein b4) but I hear good things in general about both. All the input is great!

The Yellows for that application except further research indicates they are not available for the R60 either. Bummer!

I think there is a countryman specific B6 now but $$$ouch. I'm usually all about quality over cheap price...but whoa

Well, I think I'm going to just do the megan coilovers. Basically it will mean scrapping the nm springs that I just put on 20,000 miles ago. But the local shop kinda convinced me that I will probably just end up doing it anyway and why do it 3 times. What kind of life is expected out of coilovers vs shocks + springs I wonder?

Bilstein Heavy duty are made for OEM springs, Bilstein Sport are made for aftermarket lower springs.

if you really do autocross, I would go with bilstein over coilovers, unless you are getting very high end coilover

Let's revive this thread

Anyone using Bilstein B4s? Especially at the rear? How're they compared to stock non-sport/sport dampers?

I live in Istanbul and driving a non-sport ALL4 with H&R springs. With the roads we have here, especially rear is way too bumpy. I also don't have the options to buy Bilstein HD (B6) or Megans. There are some sellers of KW and D2 coilovers but I think they're overpriced.
