How Long Does MoS Take To Prep Cars?

I'd like to draw on the collective experiences of the club. For those of you who bought your cars from MoS, how long did it take them to complete post-delivery inspection and call you to tell you to come on down? The owners' lounge shows an estimated delivery date of today...and we're leaving town tomorrow night...and the round trip we're about to do is just over 1200 miles.

Which would be very convenient.

You should call them tomorrow. Ours showed an estimated delivery date but was not even at the dealership yet. They can prep pretty quick, but definitely let them know you need it. Ours arrived on Wednesday afternoon and we picked her up on Saturday, but we had the clearbra put on, so that took extra time.

Good to know. We'll call first thing tomorrow. The only dealer-installed-anything we've got is the rear bumper protection, so hopefully they'll be able to turn it around fairly quickly.

Basically, if we can't pick it up tomorrow, I don't think we'll be able to get out there for over a week (for various reasons). The wait is bad enough, but knowing that she's there, and I just can't get to her... aaack! :impatient

Another thought...

If you absolutely want to know if it's really there...

Drive over to the lot in the back left corner of the dealership. Look over the cars, find the one that might be yours and check the VIN.

For whatever reasons, it's not clear to the computers or people inside the dealership that your car is sitting less than 100 yards away.

And do you really want to take your brand new car on a monotonous 1200 mile journey? The break-in miles, I thought, were supposed to be in varied driving conditions for the best results. But I could be wrong. Anyone else have a thought on this?

It was a long time ago, but Sterling called me to say the car was ready before the lounge said my car had gotten off the boat.

When we bought a year later from Towson (Michael's MCS) - we tracked it on line through the shipping company. They called about five days after the car arrived at Towson to say it was ready.

I picked mine up almost exactly 1 year ago and I had to call the dealership and tell them that the owner's lounge said that they had the car. They were able to find it when the looked. I was able to pick it up that same night.

Well, MoS says that the car did not arrive yesterday, though they said it might be on the enclosed transporter that had just pulled in to the dealership as I called. Even if that were so, I was told that they wouldn't be able to get the car prepped until tomorrow.

So it's next week for us, then.

Have a good trip. Even though people have picked up a car on one side of the country just to drive it to the other I think your better off doing the break in locally. Not so much because of the distance of your drive but more the timing... We are coming up on Thanksgiving weekend. Likely you will have some time in stop and go at some point of your trip. Not the best way to run in the car. Spend the time figuring out what song comes first then second then third then..... or maybe find someway to kill some time

or as a friend from another board would say

I picked up my mini last month from MoS, and it arrived there Friday evening and I took delivery first thing Saturday morning.

Oh, btw, I was just there yesterday to pick up a plate frame and they were unloading a truck full of minis. There definitely were a lot of Chili Red's on board. This was about 11am.
