Anyone Running the Conti DSW 06 or Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4

I orginally had a different post regarding the Crossclimate2 that I recently put on my wife's Honda. Since then I'm now considering the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus as well as the Michelin Pilot All Season 4. I just need some input on folks that are running one of these tires. Both are good choices.I have a 2018 Countryman S All4 with worn Bridgestone Turanza Run-flats. When it came time to buy tires for our Honda Accord 4 months ago, because of the Pandemic there wasn't many tires to choose from. I didn't like the look of the tread on the Crossclimate2 since we hardly have any other weather in So Cal other than heat. My first thought seeing the tread was "drag" meaning the tire coefficient of friction is going to be high. They are a quiet tire and surprisingly handle pretty well. I am now honestly considering both the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus as well as the Michelin Pilot All Season 4, they too (in reviews) seem to be a both great tires.

Question for anyone that has either tires or know of both. I know that the Michelins tend to be a little more “bumpy” with their stiffer side wall vs the Conti DWS 06. The Michelin also have a bit more “road noise” but I can’t imagine that they could be any worst then the Stock Bridgestone Turanza Run-Flats. I’m figuring the Conti probably is a better ride and quieter on the open road where the Michelin has a little stiffer ride, a bit more road noise but I would assume the Michelin handles better in dry climate. I don't run it through canyons too often but I do drive it like I stole it I figure anything I get is going to be better than those Run-flats.

The other thing is the price point. The Conti’s are running about $181 vs the All Sport 4 @ $205 a tire so they are both very good on the price point vs the Crossclimate2 at a whopping $242 a tire.

I hate bad road noise which translate into a noisy cabin (I also have a Ford F250 that is loud in the cab) so in my car I can handle the road noise from the run-flats, but have nothing to compare to for the Countryman in cabin noise. The interior can be a bit noisy and I’m good with that, just don’t want to make it worst. I just love my Mini and it’s been a blast to drive. I'm looking for a tire that handles well, low road noise and is good in rain.

Thank you for reading this
Mike

I have run both tires on my 2012 S-ALL4 and honestly they're a toss up. I feel like the DWS06 (technically a store branded SureContact RX, but allegedly the same) wore faster than I expected but I'm not far enough along with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 to comment on overall wear. I got them in February and have been driving a prius because of gas prices. I had gone through two sets of the Pirellis prior.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS RF : 3/2012 - 11/2015 (3 yr 8 mo)
Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS RF: 11/2015 - 09/2018 (2 yr 10 mo)

SureContact RX: 9/2018 - 2/2022 (3 yr 5 mo)
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4: 2/2022 - ?
(I have just shy of 90,000 miles on the car now and tend to be fairly not-gentle on my tires)

I don't feel like either the Conti or Michelin are particularly bumpy or noisy. I have a sport suspension and 17" wheels.

I really liked the Continental SureContact RX. They had great wet road behavior and instill a lot of driver confidence.I don't hear any squealy complaints when I push it around corners and they feel progressive (mind you this is only street driving so I'm not anywhere near traction limits on dry road).
The michelins are maybe so similar that I haven't noticed any issues that make them seem dramatically better or worse than the tires they replace. Really I'm waiting to see if paying the small premium gets me some extra life out of them but it seems like the cost per mile will be a wash anyway.

I am sure you'd be happy with either the Conti or Michelin.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I'm going to go with the PS A/S 4's since Michelin has a instant rebate of $110 putting the price point much more attractive than the Conti's. Right now it's all about trying to save money but not at the expense or handling and enjoying the car if you know what I mean. All tires are ridiculously expensive. I bought the Michelin Crossclimate2 (which I really like) for my wife's Accord at $197 each and they are $242 each which is ludicrous. If it wasn't for losing gas mileage about (2mpg around town) from those tires I might have gone with them.

I ended up purchasing the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 and don't regret it at all. I currently have about 600 miles on them. Let me start out to say for my Mini I can only compare with the run flats I previously had.
Let me start out that I drive my cars and ride my Harley like I stole them. I enjoy driving the Countryman fast and throwing it into turns and canyons. The PS/AS 4's are amazing, I was worried about road noise and there is very little and my cabin is quieter on the highway then the run flats. In turns and canyons its very sure footed and very quick steering. I haven't felt any hesitation in throwing it into turns or quickly changing lanes. I haven’t heard much tire squeal when turning and the tires just stick. The roads here in So Cal are pretty crappy and in bumpy uneven roads there is a low rumbling of noise. Hard bumps are dampened but a bit nosier going over them then before. I have not driven and any other weather than warm sunshine, but these tires just keep getting better and better. I have the Michelin Crossclimate2 on my wife’s Honda and although they are a great tire, they do not match up in Performance and handling as the Michelin PS/AS 4's.

I recently had a set of 205/ 45/r17 Continental Extreme Contacts DWS mounted on my 04 R53.
My first impressions after about 100 mi is that they are extremely noisy. My Mini drives perfectly straight even letting go of the steering wheel.
I re-checked my (front) alignment - A perfect 1/8" toe in. The camber appears equal R&L. (via vertical bubble level). Perhaps not the best way to compare but the car drives and handles beautifully. Just a lot of tire nose than before after mounting the DWS'.
2k mi on Koni yellows & strut tower bearings, CAB replaced 8kmi ago, recently replaced the front outer ball joints, droplinks, checked the bearings and alignment. All good and within specs. Still road noise.
Took the Mini in for a front end alignment at a local BMW shop and was told the front end and alignment was great. $80 - Sent me on my way.
Now after a little over 1k mi the Continental Extreme Contacts are still the noisiest tires since runflats when the Mini was brand new.

@Here2Go: The description is in the name - EXTREME contacts. They're not advertised as extreme touring.
I have them as my summer tires, on 19" JCW rims. The tradeoff for excellent, predictable handling is worth the noise - that means they're working!
The PS4s are supposed to be quieter, but you also pay the premium - they're also advertised as more of a 'super all around' vs sport-specific.

I would've rated it a 4. But then again; I don't drive a Countryman.
I mistakenly posted this reply in the wrong category/forum.

Update - Conti DSW 06 or Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4

I have been running the Michelin Sport All Season 4 for over 1000 miles and just love them. They are fairly quiet and on decent roads they are real quiet. On bumpy roads they tend to be a little noisey but it's no where near the old runflats. Handling in the rain is superb and still fun through the canyons. They really stick through the turns. Just had some crazy rain here in So Cal and these tires really held the road and surprised me how ell they still handled in heavy rain and flooding. Great tire and happy I went with them.
