Anyone running the Michelin CrossClimate2
Anyone running the Michelin CrossClimate2
Time for tires and replacing the runflats. I was looking at tires and thinking of putting on Michelin CrossClimate2 225-50-18. I have them on our Honda Accord and really like them.
Strange tread but handle nice in dry weather and very little to no road noise. The only downside to these tires is that I lost a little gas mileage. About 1 - 2 MPG. Anyone running this or the Pilot Sport All Season 4

I have the Pilot Sport All Season 4 mounted on my Mini now. They have only been on it for a few weeks, but they were previously mounted on my Miata. They are huge improvement over the runflats in terms of comfort and feel. With that said, I prefer the Conti DWS, finding they are quieter and better with impacts. I will likely change to Conti at some points.
I have the Cross Climates mounted on my Polestar 2, replacing summer performance tires. The CC are great grand touring tire. They are composed, offering a nice balance between sport and comfort. They are also quiet and great with sharper impacts. The only negative is the directional tread which reduces options to rotate. They have about 6k miles on them at this point and I would buy them again. I also saw an impact on efficiency/range, but it is hard to quantify it, but likely less than 10%.
The CC are a great tire. I am not sure I would want them on my Mini. For me, the Mini is the fun car and I think they CC have more focus on comfort, so I would opt for the All Season High Perf tires. Unfortunately I don’t know how much of a trade off since my experience is on different vehicles. I would be interested in hearing what you decide on.

Question since you have driven with both. I know that the Michelins tend to be a little more “bumpy” with their stiffer side wall vs the Conti DWS. The Michelin also have a bit more “road noise” but I can’t imagine that they could be any worst then the Stock Bridgestone Turanza Run-Flats. I’m figuring the Conti probably is a better ride and quieter on the open road where the Michelin has a little stiffer ride, a bit more road noise but I would assume the Michelin handles better in dry climate.
The other thing is the price point. The Conti’s are running about $181 vs the All Sport 4 @ $205 a tire so they are both very good on the price point vs the Crossclimate2 at a whopping $242 a tire.
I hate road noise and that “tire whine” drives me crazy (I also have a Ford F250) so in my car I can handle the road noise from the run-flats, but have nothing to compare to for the Countryman in cabin noise. The interior can be a bit noisy and I’m good with that, just don’t want to make it worst. I just love my Mini and it’s been a blast to drive.
Thank you again for your great input
Regards,
Mike
Interesting or by coincidence you mention the Michelin Cross Climate.
I was in need and reviewing tires for the last couple of months. One of our clients had the Cross Climates mounted on their Hyundai SUV. They immediately caught my eye and I wanted them for my R53.
Unfortunately (/fortunately?) they were not available in 205 or 215 45 R17. That was the deal breaker for me so I opted for Continental Extreme Contact DWS. The only reason: price & potential for snow where I live.
Although, personally, I do very much like the tread pattern on the Cross Climate.
