Got into an accident ... GRRR

So I guess it was bound to happen... about a week ago I was driving home from work and was on the 430-630 merge... and I was rear ended. GRRRR.

The other driver had a suspended licsence and no insurance.. AWESOME !

The rear bumper is going to have to be replaced and there is some rubbing of metal up against the back right tire.

The good news is, I'm two months pregnant, and the MINI protected me like a dream. As a matter of fact, the other guys car's front end was a mess. As the EMT said to me, "Those MINI's are tough little cars... "

So my question is, obviously I can't go to Memphis for the body work... right now the insurance company is saying they are going to take it to North Pointe BMW for the repair work.. Does this sound about right? Also, how do I handle the whole loss of value... the car has less than 2,000 miles on it.

Okay, I have to stop... just re-hashing this is making me soooo angry.
SHALOM !

Yes, the really good news is that you and your precious cargo are okay!

Hope you're back out and happily motoring soon.

AliMac,

I don't know about North Pointe BMW, I know they are not a dealer and I doubt they are an authorized to do repair work. I don't know if that will have any effect on your car, but I'd be sure that the body shop has worked on MINI's before or I'd keep looking. You might call Todd at Roadshow and see if he can refer you to somebody local and I think I'd ask if there would be any warrantee problems, if the work is done elsewhere. If you can't take it to Memphis because of work or something like that, call Todd and tell him, he will probably get the tow truck to get it and then deliver it back to ya after it's fixed. Just a thought.

As far as the loss of value is concerned, I'm sorry, but that's the way it goes, not much you can do about it.

Oh geez...I am so glad you and baby are ok. I hate traffic, especially the interstate intersections. I can't help you with repair work...but I would do as Popeye said and call Todd. And as for the value, my insurance company said they don't do diminished value checks/reports. They said that the repair work should be done well enough to not effect the value of the car (this is from my previous car). Hope everything works out!

Cars can be repaired....
I'm so glad you & your baby are ok!!!!

The first customer we sold an 07 to was in a BAD BAD accident in her car & to look at the photos that her husband shared with us, you'd never believe she lived!! Now they're almost ready to pick up a Clubman after being so impressed with the MINI!!

FYI - Roadshow does not do any bodywork onsite. They send all their work to Joe Stewart in Memphis. Todd may be able to refer you to someone in AR though.

If you can make it to Memphis for the repairs, I can testify as to Joe Stewart's work. They recently repaired my MINI. I am pretty satisfied with the work. Other than a few minor paint imperfections from the bonnet respray, the work looks solid. I plan to stop by and ask about them fixing the paint on mine in the next few days. I don't see it being a problem with them.

Be prepared for it to take a little while though. My baby was in the shop for about 6 weeks for this - https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1782672&postcount=62

I second everything vargasgal says about Joe Stewart's in Memphis - it's where Roadshow sends customers; they do a lot of work on MINIs, so familiar with the car (you want a body shop familiar with the car b/c you won't believe how much is packed into that rear bumper & MINI is a uni-body so you'll want a check for frame damage); they take forever to get done but the work is at least an A if not an A+.

I know all this b/c w/i less than a year of owning my MCS, some kid forgot to set the parking brake on his old school Toyota Land Cruiser 4X4, which promptly rolled down a hill and smashed into the back of my MCS - caused bumper, hatch and body damage. Joe Stewart had it for about 8 weeks (partly the kid's ins co's fault), and the MCS came back mostly like new.
