Nicodemus is Home!
Just got home from Roadshow, and I'm beat. Who'da thought buying a car could wear a person out? I suppose the fact that the drive was around 3 hrs didn't help. However, it allowed me to become quite acquainted with Nicodemus on the way. I ended up wimping out and bought an automatic rather than a standard, but I decided I just didn't want to mess with trying to learn to drive a stick on a brand new car.
Anyway, he'll certainly get up and go! And it seemed like I kept noticing extra features every time I looked around. The ambient lighting is very cool! And the radio that tells you the name of the song, the group, and the station. And the temporary blinkers vs. the permanent blinkers. And the climate control. And the auxiliary radio jack. And 4 different ways of shifting gears. And...and...and.... Of course the list keeps going.
I'll get some pics taken and posted in the next couple of days. Thanks for taking the time to read.

By the way, I also wanted to mention that my experience at Roadshow was beyond good. Despite a faulty air compressor in my old car (great timing!) I received a trade in value of what I was expecting, everyone there was friendly and helpful, and my salesman was very nice. I didn't once feel pressured into getting something I didn't need - and in fact, my salesman was quite candid with his views on what things were good to have and what were pretty much unnecessary. The F&I officer was also very friendly - which is great because this is probably the most stressful part about buying a car...signing one's life away and all... - and made sure to explain everything very clearly. I can't say the same for the dealer who sold us the Kia we had (who somehow managed to get us to buy a $900 maintenance plan we didn't know about!). I'm really starting to appreciate the fact that Mini is a no-haggle kind of dealership. Though you may not be able to talk them down like you can at some other dealerships, everything is much less stressful and much more succinct.
Great and we do want to see pictures.

I find the automatic is great. Today I was driving in the mountains, it is nice to have the option of letting the trans do the thinking in small town traffic.
I do notice that if you run is manual (DS), but do not touch the paddles or shift lever, the automatic is more responsive than when it is in D only. No sport mode on, that is another experience.
Enjoy your MINI and drive safe.

Do you know Fritz with the CR MCS with the British flag on top?
Maybe I'll see you around sometime. I'm the really old guy in Russellville driving the CR/W '03 MC, 5-speed stick of course... when I learned to drive most cars were stick shifts.
Congratulations on your MINI and I'm glad your Roadshow experience was good. They have been great to me.

I don't know Fritz, but I may know his neighbor. My mom's boss was telling me, when she saw my Cooper, that she liked that color better than the red one her neighbor owns. She said it had the flag on top and looked "gaudy" (as if that were possible!). So, since he has one, you have one, and I have one, does that mean there are 3 Minis driving around this area? My partner is about to get himself a Nightfire Red '08, so maybe there'll be 4 driving around soon.
