...And the best beer commercial that sparked a HUGE NATIONAL PRIDE movement... Molson, on Canada Day, actually flew him across the Country doing that speech... Chopper would land, he would run out, do his thing, run into the chopper and onto the next city, from coast to coast...[/url]
So, stopping at EVERY Canadian city, coast to coast, that would be, uhh, 5? Kidding!!
I had the pleasure of travelling in Canada this past summer. There is no more beautiful nation on the planet.
And, I loved the commercials. Thanks.
We are looking forward to our third AMVIV. Rooms booked.
I hope they do the Mt. Charleston run again. We missed it so much last year that we went all by ourselves!
When does registration for the event open up?
I got my room booked already
Registration will open in mid-December. Add yourself to the email list and you'll get a notification email when it opens up.

Between the 2005 and 2006 AMVIVs, Palace Station spent about $3 million upgrading the Courtyard rooms. They are now quite nice rooms and a steal at $89 for the near-Strip location. During NASCAR weekend, they go for $199 per night.
Not yet. Don't want to put anything up until we get the schedule a little more set. People seem to get more upset about changes than about posting later.

I stayed in a 'courtyard' room a couple of months ago.
It was an outside room and I could hear whenever people were getting into / out-of their cars (double pane glass should have been in their budget).
And, while there, I had to test out the walk to the parking garage - not too bad if you cut back through the 'courtyard', cross the alley, back through the casino then up the elevator.

They are much better. But it does seem that depending on where your room is located, some are noisier, less convenient, etc; which is the case at ANY hotel anyway.
Xiek: You coming this year, or what?
Agro: My peeps are getting restless for info/registration, but I agree that it's much better to wait until everything is settled than have to make changes later.
It's not March yet.
But it IS getting closer.
Tell your Peeps to be careful at AMVIV, it's REAL close to Easter.
We have to work out what everything will cost, if there are any runs with fees involved that we can pre-pay, stuff like that, before the registration can go live.
I am almost sure I am... tis a long way to go, and have to ensure I can get the time off... But it is up there on the list of things to do in 2008...
I have Gay Ski Week to get to in Whistler in Feb, this in March, and Dragon in May, and then maybe Orlando in June with friends, so there goes all my hoilday time in the first 6 months...
There's a super slim chance I might be able to make it to this although I won't know until about a month before the event at the earliest. Not sure if I'll be able to get a room at the Palace Station with that late notice but I have a friend in the area who can hook me up with a deal at another place so either way I should be good to go. Here's hoping.
Deviant, the room rate will be well and truly done by then (total of 320 room, yesterday afternoon we were at 136 booked) but event pre-registration and dinner ticket sales will close the weekend before AMVIV. Even if you don't get pre-registered, you're more than welcome to come on down to Palace Station.
I should know about a month in advance and I have a friend who can get me a good discount at the Green Valley Resort so I'll have a place to stay with a bit of a drive.
. . . at the Green Valley Resort so I'll have a place to stay with a bit of a drive.
Be forewarned. The Palace Station is AMVIV hedaquarters.
Everything happens at the host hotel. People mingle, gamble, eat, drink, make merry, ogle, party, and so on, and so on. Having a room one can simply walk, or stumble, to at 3 in the morning is a welcome relief.

Well, I'd given up drinking so the stumble thing won't be so much of a problem.
There's also something to be said about wandering out to the parking garage and striking up a conversation with bunch of people out admiring their cars - at 1:30am.
FWIW, I live 2 minutes from Green Valley Ranch...I didn't get a room at Palace Station last year, and while it's an annoying drive, don't plan to this year either. Rather save my room $$ on more toys
