I'm counting the days and nights. I love that mid video of the night run, it was the most fun I had this year at MOTD. Got my cabin for 2009.

I'm counting the days. I tried to make reservations at Fontana about a week after last year, but ended up on a waiting list. It's still way too early for the cancellations to start.

You are ready! You have a MINI and that is all it takes to be ready...
The Dragon can be driven at any pace, so don't be too concerned about whether you can handle it or not.
We are planning on having a Orientation drive of the Dragon on Thursday the 30th of April for first time slayers.
There will be a schedule available in the coming months that will direct you to the Orientation and Dragon Run.
The Orientation and Dragon run is highly recommended for anyone that has never been to the Dragon.

There will be more information available in the coming months so check back to this thread for more information.

Schultze & I will DEFINITELY be there this year!

I plan on ditching the current vanity tags for something more appropriate which will explain why Schultze wasn't at MOTD2008!

Hopefully all the interior customization will be completed by then!

Where's the countdown widget?!

Anyone have a suggestion for a place to stay other than the Fontana. They are almost out of rooms.

If you can't find a room at Fontana Village then there's always Tapoco Lodge just down the road from the Dragon.

Only 165 more days till MOTD 2009

A complete listing of area logding can be found HERE I have personally stayed at Blue Water Mountain lodge and would highly recommend it.

5 year veteran here but we won't be coming back as well as many of our other veteran friends won't be either. Other plans are in the works for a less crowded, smaller but fun gathering. Hope you all have a great time

I have a couch reserved and can't wait to get back. MSSD was a blast but MOTD will be even better!

2009 could be my first year on the Dragon. I really want to go but haven't reserved a room yet - is it too late already? And if I don't get a room, is it worth coming up for just a day?

I would almost guarantee that if you spent under 30 miniutes going down the list HERE you would find lodging still.

Looks like you have about a 4 hour drive each way, so I would strongly suggest you get some lodging. Worse case scenerio, look at Maryville, TN or Bryson City,NC for a place to crash.

My first time to the Dragon I went with no reservations with the intentions of just going for the day.
After I got there I realized that I would be missing too much fun if I left so I asked the front desk to
keep me in mind if they had any cancellations, which they did and I have been going ever since.
If you can handle the drive there and back in case you are unable to find anything I would definitely make the trip.
But I assure you that the odds are in your favor that you will find someplace to stay.

Every year there are a handful that have no reservations but as the time nears if you keep your eye on NAM you'll find people posting cancellations.

A good place to start is snooters lodging list at www.minisonthedragon.info/lodging.html
Then checkout "MOTD Accommodations Wanted/Available" this is where
those that are looking to drop their reservations will know who to offer them to.

Good Luck and hope to see you at the Dragon.

This will be our first year. Reservations are at Nantahala Village near Bryson City. We just got our Mini in October an of course by then Fontana was full.

See you there.
