Anyway, I live in San Antonio and was wondering if people travel from all over for this event, if so how long does it take to drive up there and any other information that would be helpful would be great.

I've looked on the MOTD site and it is very informative.

Look forward to hearing back from you all.

Happy Mini Motoring

I am travelling from New York!!!

chatterboxcope, there's a MOTD thread at MetroplexMINI.org too. There are three MINIs coming from our neighborhood in Oak Cliff, Dallas, that will be caravaning to the Dragon together. Not sure what route or how long we will take yet.

Last year we went with AGRANGER and took about a day and a half to drive with a stop overnight. Rick and I took the same amount of time to come home but the others drove back in one day. I hear it was a trek!

cabriopilot, Daphne's (TINGLY) boot is in your pics... what a great line up of cars!

MoTH 2009 from San Antonio

Hey T8rchick,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I would love to meet up with you guys and tag along.

As I say I'm new to San Antonio and also the US so any travelling is going to be great.

I've not registered or booked accommodation as of yet, I work abroad alot and so have to just confirm my dates.

I collected "Winston" yesterday and boy do I love driving him around, I just wait to experience the thrill of being in a convoy of mini's......whoo oooh.

Please let me know when you have your plans sorted, I don't mind about the route to be honest as I woudn't have done any lol

I would like to come, but it depends on whether not I can find an inexpensive place to stay that isn't too far away from the center of things. I'll be making the drive alone and be there alone.. so I guess I might need to socialize here a little more often so I won't be sitting around by myself all weekend!

I made the trip last year by myself. Met up with people on the way down and made plenty of friends to hang with all weekend. So, don't worry about it, just pack your bags and get going!!!

I would go down the lodging list HERE. The most economical places would probably be:
Microtel
The Phillips Motel
The Overnighter
Tuskeegee Motel
San Ran Motel
Freeman Motel

Looking forward to going again this year! I should finally have my new suspension all set up by then. Last year I rode Ambrosia on the Dragon fully stock and it was still a blast...can't wait til this year though!

I booked a 1 bedroom Willow cabin last year at Fontana that I *might* be willing to transfer to someone but I'll let any takers know as we get closer to MOTD.

It looks like we'll be going to Asheville, the Biltmore Estate first, then onto the Dragon by Wednesday. That might be kinda out of your way! We definitely need to meet up during the week and maybe the ride home. The more MINIs the merrier!

Fontana Village was already booked full during last years MOTD event for this years event..
You would think that they would bring in extra portable cabins just for us.

As for the pryo, it was a falling tree/branch that took out the power lines that set off the fire.

Or at least thats what we have been led to believe..

This'll be my 7th and let me tell you...it's worth every penny and every mile driven to get there. You'll have a blast, I guarantee it.

Losing your Dragon Virginity will be a day you'll never forget, even if you live to be 285 years old.

Ok then. I'm in.

No co-pilot, going solo.

GF has to work :(

Anyone w/reservations at the Fontanna and not going. PLEASE Send me a PM !

After travelling some 1,000 miles, the thought of having to drive 80 miles a day for events makes me tired just thinking about it.....just not as young as I used to be ya know.

I bet I'm older than you.
I drive solo as well and have done for the past 5 events..hubby just can't take the time.
You can do as much or as little as you want, once you're there. Just don't try to do everything every day and you'll be fine.

For those having trouble finding lodging, or want to save some cash, CAMP!

I camp every year, and don't miss a thing.
