New windshield with embedded heating wires: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...sav/1VnZCy9OwW
Wiring harnesses, relays, and switch.
Programming may be necessary.

Another way to look at it. Plain Windshields are often WAY more cheaper than the Electric Grid versions when it comes time to change one out due to a rock or other misfortune...

I’d also be curious about the tiny little black button between 12 and 11. Maybe I missed it, but I have been unable to find it in the owners manual.

Thought I’d read it’s some sort of light sensor, but can’t find that source. Certainly looks the part.

That is one of my guesses as well.

Another- maybe IR temperature sensor for HVAC? I would think for that purpose there would be two sensors, one aiming at the driver, the other for passenger.

So, still a mystery.

Heated front windshield is always a euro thing. MINI had these all the way back in gen one. They have the fine metal lines that go up and down then heat up the windshield.

Light source sensor for the auto adjustment of the center console display.
