We figured we missed a fun run. What route did you take? A few weeks ago we visited family in Coarsegold and took the route through Raymond. On the way home we detoured through Chowcilla, both were really fun drives.
That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Thank you for the invite. Unfortunately I will be out of town for the weekend. We would love to join you guys sometime.
Oh well idk if im the farthest but I just rolled over 2100 miles you guys are lucky I have still not found a group or club of mini owners around here everyone I pass pretends not to see me or gives me a WTF look when I wave to them.
Oh and welcome kit im not sure what that includes I have not heard of it before. I did finally get a letter containing my "MINI PARKING ONLY" stencil to spray paint on my parking spot

The route we took was through North Fork into Lake Redinger (had the wrong lake name before), then around Bass Lake, back to Hwy 41 down through Oakhurst and back to Coarsegold. Very twisty and scenic. It was warm, so I had the A/C on the entire time, driving in Sport mode and it never felt like the engine was pulling at all with the A/C on. Very tight and responsive all day. Jiminni was able to "test drive" his car with the new Cosworth head in it. He takes it to LA this weekend to get it tuned.

I have never gotten a welcome kit, nor have I heard of one before now. One of our members got a "birth certificate" when she ordered hers in 2005, but have not heard that Mini is still doing that. As far as "Mini Parking Only", I just too my BMW Parking Only sign, zero/crossed out the BMW and wrote in Mini instead. It works.....
Lol, my dad still gets stuff from Mini every so often. He bought his back in January of 2005. Hopefully we'll all get something in the next few weeks. Who knows? Maybe they ran out of one of the parts of the kit and they're waiting to get them back in stock before shipping our kits out.
Marshall Gauges, Cravenspeed bracket. I think the color match is pretty good, but I unplugged the tach, which is what I think makes the checkengine light stay on.
Windfall, they look fantastic. Nice job on the install - how long did it take you?
In other news, I was pleased to get a wave back today from the driver of a new (dealer plates) Oxy Blue/Black Cooper. Maybe I should go troll around the other "Week X" threads to see if she's on the boards...
It took about an hour to find the famous grommet in the firewall. I did not look on NAM, so it was 'hunt and peck'. I spent a lot of time trying to find a wire that turned on with the lights, but did not have a dimmer. It turns out that the LED's in the gauges are perfectly happy with the dimmed circuit, and have about the same level of brightness as the stock instrument lights, except the needles are a little brighter. I used Cravenspeed's water temp adapter which goes in in place of a plastic hose joiner that is stock, so that is pretty easy. I also used their oil pressure adapter which lets you keep the stock sender, which the computer needs. That was easy too. The hardest part, as usual, is the wiring. After standing on my head to see up under the dash and taking the console up to find some connections there, I got it done. I would budget all day if you haven't done it before. If you are good, you might beat that. Taking off the knee pad above the driver's feet and the panel next to the accelerator pedal gives quite a lot of room.
My hubby ordered the two guages for his '03 and will be putting them in. I will see how he does on on his before he does mine . I am getting my white stripes on the rear done tomorrow, if all goes well. j.

Wow! I love those and they're functional to boot.
May I ask about how much you spent or get links to the website(s)? I may consider those for my car.

The mounting is Cravenspeed on their website. I also got the water temp sender adapter from them, and the oil pressure sender adapter. The gauges are Marshall. They are called SCX silver series. Marshall says they are about to have an authorized Mini type face. They have a website too. How do I get the site I copied with the 'copy' button to paste in this post? The set-up isn't cheap. $462. I had a clearance issue with part of the Craven bracket. I fixed it by putting in an additional spacer. They are checking it out and are supposed to get back to me. I also discovered that if you start the engine with the tach disconnected, the check engine light comes on. Fortunately, after only about 5 cycles, it goes off again. However, I would suggest that you do not do that I like the excellent color match of the instrument lights at night, but I know you can buy cheaper gauges. Mechanical guages are a lot cheaper, but it is hard to run the tubes through the firewall in something as cramped as the MINI. There are probably cheaper electric gauges as well. I don't know how well they match. I am happy with what I have, however.

I think I posted this a page or two ago, but there is a going to be a group buy for the "new and improved" SCX gauges. The shop were I get all my work done, "Custom Mini Shop", is going to be the vendor doing this. He is talking to Paul from Marshall almost daily. Paul is saying the gauge face manufacture is still making the new faces and pointers. They will be worth the wait though. I will be going with the stepper motor gauges as they are more accuate and should last longer too. There will also be a group buy on all the Craven pods at the same time. Hope this helps.
