not getting the navigation!
picked up my countryman s all4 last week. started the break in period with a road trip from LA>SF the next day. still trying to get acquainted with all of the features, but so far i'm really enjoying this car! here's my build:
royal grey with white roof
bench seat
panoramic sunroof
polar beige gravity leather
sport pkg - love the xenons!
premium pkg - comfort access is great!
technology pkg (connected but no nav) - connected itself is fun especially on road trips!
i can't help but feel like i cheated myself by not getting the most out of connected. initially i had assumed i would still be able to access my iphone navigation, but with the connected app running i can't access my map on my phone while i'm say, listening to web radio. seems like a huge inconvenience. plus discovering features that i can't use such as the google send-to-car feature or using voice command to set destinations make me regret not forking out the extra 750...
my MA says it's not possible to add on nav later. does anyone know if this is absolutely true? i'm wondering what other hardware changes need to be made outside of the connected screen. any thoughts on connected with vs without navi? also does the iphone 4 cradle work with the 4s? the accessories guy told me to wait for an updated cradle.
meanwhile, here's a pic... still trying to think of a name!

We have almost the same car (our interior is black cloth with red stitching and door panels). We have th nav ect, and love it. My wife has the I phone 4 and I have the 4 S. It works with the same snap in cradle.

I'm getting NAV unit installed in the AM
I just picked up my All4 as well on the weekend. It didnt come with NAV either, so I'm having it installed tomorrow morning, I can post pictures afterwards if you like. It's basically a garmin unti that was built specifically for MINI and integrates with the ignition system and whatnot, should be a very clean install, as it attaches to the side of the tachometer.
Someone mentioned that it might not have all of the functionality as the Y cable. Can you guys confirm that it syncs up with all of the features of Connected? Album art? Video?
For now i am using j.eaton's solution using the iphone packaging which works rather amazingly. although with the connected control console and the armrest there's not much room for anything else on the rail.

after thinking about it, having a separate unit would free up the in dash screen for other cool mini things anyways!
my top three color choices were:
royal grey
oxford green
cosmic blue
all with white roofs.
it was a dilemma for me all the way up until I picked it up. even after i knew it was built, seeing other cm's around with cool colors made me second guess my decision. and now i love my royal grey. the metallic flakes shift the color of the car a lot according to it's surroundings. ultimately which ever you choose your car is going to look great!
is there a reason you didn't get the nav too?
