Stupid question...

Ok, stupid question. Is the stock side "turn signal" stripe black in the S and All4 config and silver on the non-S CM? (the only other option being the chrome upgrade)

I believe it's black plastic unless you opt for chrome; Cooper/S/ALL4

On the Mini USA configurator, that side turn signal stripe is only black on the All4 model, until you select the chrome exterior option. Otherwise, it shows standard as chrome on the Cooper and Cooper S even without selecting the chrome option.

You are correct; the side marker bezels are a silver color on the base Countryman and a black color on Countryman S and All4. I have also noticed two different roof rails. Some are silver in color and others in a black/dark gray color.

Scuttles, as they are referred to in MINI parlance...

My wife wanted chrome scuttles but did not want the chrome package or chrome mirror caps (required). You can get the chrome scuttles from the dealer for about $125 each. They are not too difficult to change, the hardest part being to remove the front fender trim. the part #'s are 51139804617, 51139804618 for the Cooper S.

Those are tied to the chrome exterior package - dark standard and silver with the package. I'm starting to wonder if all these thousands of options, packages, and "if, thens" are just so they can have a good chuckle at us trying to sort it all out.

Forgot to weigh in on this one. This really, really needs to be an option. Silver units are more than a little cheap looking. For the outrageous $250 for the interior surface color, these should be included. Or part of the dash and door ring color no-cost option. I'll be haning around the salvage yard waiting for a non-S CM to come in so I can grab them at a reasonable price.

Silver rails are standard on base, anthracite rails on S. Adding external chrome package on S changes rails back to silver to match scuttles and other chrome bits.
