I'm unsold on the black roof. The profile shots always look a bit..off. I do like it with Tru Blue but, not having seen one in person and all the pics looking so different, I' mnot sure I like it enough to commit to it. I test drove a white/black ALL4 that was nice but the white/white I see in pics looks outstanding as well. It's not as white as people keep saying though. it's just...white. No pearls or metallics, just, white. Looks almost like they just used BMW's Alpine White and renamed it. I also like red, like the WRC renderings, but I'd want it RED, not a color-shifting red.

hee hee quality_sound...I hear you. In the end I ordered Light White (black roof).

On an overcast day the white actually looks like a dull gray or almost like the white silver (minus the sparkle). I really think the color of top you chose affects the other color. I also considered red and would only put it with a black roof because I think the black accentuates the red (and makes it look less pastel).

White/white is great too (several online pics of that combo) but I loooooove the contrasting roof. Cheers!

Also, my MA indicated it WAS the alpine white from bmw...but I'm not sure.

 

Based on what I saw, I wouldn't think that these colors are the same. This picture shows a 3 series right next to the white CM. Even with a mildly crappy, poorly lit iPhone picture, they seem noticeably different.



In real life, the comparison was somewhat like skim milk (CM) vs. whole milk (BMW). The CM had a bluish-gray cast to it, while the BMW white was creamier, if that makes any sense.

Just my opinion...

 

That makes perfect sense and now that I see them next to each other they are about a half shade different.

I want to see a white/white CM now.

 

Every time I see the white I like it even more. Probably why my wife orderd a white one.

White with a black top just seems to be SOOOO popular! I like it, too, but am not sure I want to have something that everyone else will have. Thinking I want something more unique.

If I get really nervy, I'm thinking about the red with a white top!

Regardless, it will drive me crazy. Do you get ulcer medicine to help you through all the worrying you do once you finally make up your mind and place the order?

 

The ulcer is happening for me AFTER the fact. Happy with my choice of auto, but still worried over the small choice of full or split rail (went with full which just looks weird in pix to me). Wishing I'd gotten the parking control and xenons. Massively torn regarding the All4, though I've never owned a 4WD in my life and have been more than fine in snow that I care to drive in.

I think it's very nice - I saw a white and a silver side-by-side, it's amazing how similar they can look in real life!

I think the black roof emphasizes the grayish hues in the white - with all white, the color looks richer, to me.

 

Great white on white photo!!! Love it Interestingly enough, there seem very few on this board ordering white. I have a white car now and I'm always a sucker for white or silver. I love the black roof because it de-emphasizes the tallness of the vehicle. Again, just my opinion...not knocking anyone's white roofs. I love the pepper white (always have) and will someday have a chili red cooper s.

 

I really, really want to see one lowered. I'm not sure there are any kits yet (probably not) but I'm totally picturing the WRC renderings and boy-racer though it may be, I'd rock it in a second.

modimum, being a fellow PW/B owner, I'd go for the Surf Blue and white for fun. You've had classic for years, go for fun. I love the surf blue interior, too!

The Cosmic and Oxford with black roof sort of scream luxury to me. They were my top choices. The surf was definitely something I considered. How many people have tried the black with white roof. That combo looks amazing, but it doesn't look like anyone has tried it at least on this forum.

 

Well - the 2-year-old did love the surf blue...

And since it's a small kid and mom mover, perhaps fun is the right option now. It's the move away from classic that is so hard though. You nailed it.

 

I just e-mailed my MA and will hopefully be able to change colors since mine hasn't made it into production yet.

Now looking to go to Surf Blue from Oxford Green. This waiting has got me second guessing colors and options

I had not seen those, so thanks for posting. I really do like the surf blue and black. Schweeet! I think I'm so accustomed to the black roof now, that the white just doesn't look right.

 

I started second guessing the day after my order and when I went back to talk about changing I was told it was in production. Two days after ordering in early December.

Looks great! Have you seen the color in person? Those configurator renderings are just renderings and actual color varies. Just be sure you know what you are getting so there are no (bad) surprises.
