Just playing the devils advocate here. Say Jr. is merging on the interstate and that out-of-control monster semi-tractor trailer is headed straight for his door. When he mashes the accelerator to get out of the way, do you want him to move fast or sit there and think about it? Sometimes, having a little extra speed can be a good thing.

Sorry have not even test driven one, nearest dealer is 90 miles away, pretty much ordered one sight unseen.

I wish the Countryman came in the British Racing Green 2 instead of the Oxford Green. I think we will go with the Oxford unless my husband decides he likes the Surf or Cosmic blue better. Of course, our first choice would be Pepper White, but no go there either.

I see your point Sealy. I won't order a base until I've driven it. Chances are, I'll get an S in the end. I might as well enjoy driving it for 4-5 years

Interior Color: I have tobacco half leather/cloth seats (see photos thread) and chose tobacco trim to break up the darkness - Now the brown is really dark but coupled with the light beige headliner it looks good - Now I would not have matched with my other "choice" blue interior, with yellow, though I am a Michigan fan..

Power: Get the S - I have the s and feel it is adequate, my daughter will likely get the car after and without getting into a huge discussion speed does not kill , but lack of respect for conditions and not knowing how to handle a car in bad situations will get folks I think into more trouble

I wonder if the tobacco trim would be ok with the royal gray exterior color with the leatherette? The royal gray definitely looked like it had some brown in it when seen on the lot.

Just something to break up the darkness of the interior.

Don't think so, I would have noticed immediately how unconfortable the seats were, as I have when test driving other cars in the past, but did not notice with the countryman.

Are u my long lost twin ? LoL. Same car with black 17" rims, Sun roof, Nav, Cold package. The rims are the first thing to go after the tires wear out. Or keep them for winter set/ snow tires.

mini z,

Let's just say that we both have good taste! I ordered the 18" black rims, no sunroofs, but pretty well loaded otherwise. I did not plan on the surf blue, that is until I saw it in person at my local dealership, and thought it was such a cool, rich, different color. I hope I do not see another CM in that color combo where I live in socal/LA.

I stopped by the dealership today - very cloudy and overcast, light rain. Wanted to see more cars in the daylight, rather than online.

They had a Royal Gray S on the lot with matching roof - in this light, there appeared to be a greenish tint to the car! I've seen it in other settings where it looked sort of brown. The salesman said that this particular CountryMan color was very much like some of the BMW silvers - the color is influenced by intensity of light, clouds, color of the sky, etc. Can take on different looks depending upon the surroundings.

Unfortunately, I can't say that this particular look was appealing to me, but... better to see it now and not be surprised.

I've been leaning towards a Royal Gray with a white roof and the black leatherette interior, but finding it very hard to commit.

Countryman's colors are very strange.... Also the red, as the true blue, is very variable depending from the light... :( The green that i chosen in some lights appear blackish :D

White on white?

Well, in my continued quest to drive myself crazy figuring out what kind of configuration I want, I found some youtube videos that showed some white CountryMen (huh?) with white roofs. I hadn't seen this before, as best I can remember. All the white cars I've seen have had black roofs. (And that combo seems way too popular!)

Is this combo "MINI enough"? Or is this too safe? I would likely do some sort of patterned sunroof graphic to break up the white.

Would the darker wheels work, or are the traditional a better fit?

Decisions, decisions!

@MaybeMCSC, the white on white would really look good with the anthracite wheels.

Go darker on the inside. I find I really like the dark panels with our Beige Gravity and Beige headliner.

Pictures over in my picasa or over in the CM photo thread.

Definitely a green hue in the Royal Grey. Hold something green next to it and you'll see how much. Still like it though.

My dealership has an all White MCSAll4 with everything on it and it's pretty awesome in person.

I think we have the same color tastes! I WANTED to like that color combo too and saw it and noooooooo, waaaay too brown. Bummer. Oh well. I'm back to white with a black top. My back up was silver with a white top (both dark wheels).

Yeah, this is sort of weird - I was also thinking of the silver with white top! Almost TOO subtle.

White with a white top is still a possibility, but I worry that it's too safe. And with the leatherette interior, which has so much black trim, will it be boring? If I get adventurous, I'm actually thinking about red with a white top. And getting some sort of graphics on the sunroof. But then the wheel choice... definitely 18's, but which ones? (I'm trying to find some real pictures of the red/white combo, but no luck so far.)

Anyone have any pix of cars with the sunroof graphics? I'd be curious to see what they look like. The configurator doesn't actually show them, I guess since they're either dealer or VDC-installed options.

I will go crazy over this!

You have to see this one in person and several times under different light conditions. The only color it isn't is red. A lot of people are conflicted about it - like me they want a red Mini and this ain't it.

I test drove a Non-S and honestly it's not as slow as you might think. It takes a little motivation to get it up a steep hill but other than that it can keep up with everything else on the road. I really like it.

Just ordered mine this morning! I was planning on silver with a black top, but at the last minute I changed to to Light White with a black top after looking at it again at the dealership. White seems to be the most available color around DC, but its really quite nice looking, almost a fluorescent bulb white. None of the other colors really resonated with me, I wish they carried over the Hot Chocolate color instead of Light Coffee...
